What to do if the belly button gets inflamed

Most people have some secretions in their belly buttons to a greater or lesser extent. In fact, a small amount of secretions from the belly button of the human body can protect the human body. However, if there are too many secretions, and sometimes they may flow out, it is likely that there is an infection. It is best to go to the hospital for diagnosis in time to check what exactly caused it. So what should I do if my belly button is inflamed?

The sunken navel is a dark corner, which is very easy to accumulate water and dirt, and is not easy to dry. In addition, the temperature here is suitable, making it a good culture medium for bacteria. Furthermore, the umbilical stump has not yet completely closed after umbilical cord cutting and is not covered by skin. If the umbilical cord is not properly cared for, bacteria can grow and multiply in large numbers and cause omphalitis. The initial symptoms are redness at the root of the umbilical cord or the wound after the umbilical cord falls off, white purulent secretions, and progressive redness and swelling of the skin around the umbilicus. Bacteria can even enter the blood circulation through the umbilical blood vessels, a potential channel that has not yet been closed anatomically, causing serious consequences such as sepsis, so omphalitis must be treated promptly.

How to treat belly button inflammation?

1. It is related to inflammation caused by getting wet and buckled. First of all, it is recommended to keep the wound dry. Do not pinch your belly button normally. In addition, it is recommended to use iodine and alcohol to disinfect it first, and it can be used once every 1-2 hours. It usually works. If it still doesn't work, oral antibiotics and intravenous anti-inflammatory treatment, severe surgery.

2. Umbilical infection. In mild cases, there will be local purulent secretions with a foul odor, and redness or swelling of the umbilicus and surrounding skin. In severe cases, the infection will spread to form an abdominal wall infection and abscesses, or spread to the peritoneum to cause peritonitis, and spread to the whole body to cause sepsis. After omphalitis occurs, for mild cases, the local area can be cleaned with 3% hydrogen peroxide, disinfected with 75% alcohol and then applied with 2% gentian violet. For those with suppuration, furacillin or rafenol gauze can be applied externally, or the Chinese medicine Jinhuangsan or Longgusan can be used externally. Sometimes it is caused by the umbilical cord being tied not tight enough after birth. There is often exudate at the base of the umbilical cord, and sometimes it is an inflammation at the base of the umbilical cord. Pay attention to wipe the base of the umbilical cord frequently with alcohol to keep it clean.

3. Use hydrogen peroxide and wipe it every day. It should be effective quickly. It's just a disinfection issue. Don't be in a hurry.

Dirt is easily deposited in the belly button. If it is not cleaned in time, it may produce odor. It is not impossible to pick out the dirt in the belly button with your fingers, but you must not use too much force when picking, because the skin of the belly button is very thin. If you pick the belly button, it may cause redness or inflammation of the skin. If you want to wipe off the dirt in the belly button, just wipe it gently with a towel dipped in warm water.

What causes belly button inflammation?

1. Navel suppuration is an acute suppurative disease occurring in the navel, which is often called umbilical infection. At the beginning, you may find that the navel is a little swollen and a little painful. Gradually, the swelling will become more and more obvious, and some will protrude. The smoky purple color of the skin will also change, and the pain will increase when pressed.

2. Navel inflammation. Because the sunken area of the navel is prone to water and dirt accumulation, and the humid and warm environment provides opportunities for the growth and reproduction of bacteria, it can easily lead to navel inflammation.

3. Belly button inflammation is a common minor ailment. As the old saying goes, belly button mud should not be picked. Some children may hurt their belly buttons while playing, causing inflammation. Some are caused by the working environment. Unhygienic, humid, and stuffy conditions can also cause belly button inflammation, especially in obese people.

4. Although navel inflammation is a minor problem, it still causes troubles. Inflammation can cause itching, and the more

The more it itches, the more you want to scratch it, especially when you are asleep, unconsciously making the inflammation worse. In addition to itching, pus is also discharged, which stains clothes. The more serious problem is that it produces an unacceptable odor.

5. When encountering inflammation, many people do not have timely and effective methods. They just need to rinse with clean water, do not touch it, and wait for it to heal slowly. There are also methods such as iodine, mercurochrome, eye drops, etc. to reduce inflammation, and there are also folk remedies such as Chinese herbal medicine for filling. Some of these methods are effective, while others have side effects. In particular, the use of herbal fillings with unknown pharmacology can cause infection and aggravate the symptoms of inflammation.
