Red and swollen eyes with eye mucus may be caused by this disease!

I believe many people have heard of conjunctivitis. People with this disease not only have red, swollen and bloodshot eyes, but are also prone to earwax. This disease is highly contagious. Generally speaking, after getting this disease, friends who like to play games and browse Weibo on their mobile phones may have to endure it. Friends who sit in front of a computer at work may need to take a sick leave. Red and swollen eyes are prone to eye mucus, so you should pay attention to this.

Pink Eye:

Also known as outbreak eye, medically known as acute catarrhal conjunctivitis or acute epidemic conjunctivitis, is caused by a variety of bacteria or viruses, with the characteristics of short incubation period, rapid onset, obvious symptoms, strong infectiousness, rapid spread, and easy to cause epidemics. It is generally prevalent in the summer. Homes, workplaces, public baths, swimming pools, restaurants, and dance halls are important places for the spread of conjunctivitis.

symptom:

Acute congestion of the conjunctiva. Patients experience itchy and uncomfortable eyes, photophobia, tearing, stinging, foreign body sensation, burning sensation and serous secretions, red and swollen eyelids, and a lot of eye mucus. In severe cases, the conjunctiva is highly edematous and vision is blurred. Some patients also have mild systemic discomfort, fever, dizziness, headache, fatigue, swollen preauricular lymph nodes and other symptoms. Generally, they recover gradually after a week. Vision is generally not affected after recovery.

treat:

The treatment of conjunctivitis is mainly with topical medications, such as antibiotic eye drops such as ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, and antiviral eye drops such as acyclovir and ribavirin. Apply eye drops frequently, once every half an hour. Once the symptoms have basically disappeared, you can appropriately reduce the number of times you apply eye drops per day. However, you must persist for several days before stopping the medication. Apply antibiotic or antiviral eye ointment at night. In the early stages of the disease, cold compresses are recommended to reduce swelling and redness, but do not bandage or apply hot compresses, as these can aggravate congestion, spread inflammation, and even cause complications; do not share the same eye drops with others; use hormonal drugs such as cortisone with caution. Do not use a handkerchief to wipe eye secretions. Use clean toilet paper or napkins instead. During the illness, you should refrain from smoking and drinking, avoid drinking strong tea or coffee, and avoid eating spicy and indigestible foods.
