What are the signs of shoulder pain?

The shoulders are the part of the human body that bears the weight of the arms. Almost the entire weight of the arms needs to be borne by the shoulders, and the shoulders are also the representative part of people's work and responsibility. When the shoulders are under high pressure for a long time, they are very prone to disease symptoms, which greatly affects and disrupts people's lives. The most typical example is shoulder pain. Let's take a look at the signs of shoulder pain.

1. Left shoulder pain may be related to heart disease

Because the sensory nerves for shoulder pain and heart pain are very close, both behind the spinal cord, when the heart malfunctions, such as angina pectoris or myocardial infarction, it will also reflexively induce left shoulder pain.

How to distinguish shoulder pain caused by frozen shoulder and heart disease?

Left shoulder pain caused by heart disease is mostly related to activities, occurs during activities, is paroxysmal, and regular, and can be relieved by rest or oral nitroglycerin;

The pain caused by frozen shoulder often occurs after fatigue, and resting or taking nitroglycerin cannot relieve it.

2. Right shoulder pain may be related to cholecystitis

Acute gallbladder inflammation can stimulate the right phrenic nerve endings and cause reflex pain in the right shoulder skin.

The phrenic nerve is composed of the third to fifth cervical nerves, mainly the fourth cervical nerve, which branches on the skin of the shoulder.

When the stimulation of the right phrenic nerve endings is transmitted to the fourth cervical ganglion through the phrenic nerve, the cerebral cortex will have an illusion that it is pain coming from the right shoulder.

Therefore, if you find that right shoulder pain persists, it is recommended to do a color ultrasound first to rule out cholecystitis.

3. If the pain increases the more you press, it may be cervical spondylosis

If you have pain in your neck and shoulders, you may feel relieved immediately after a massage by your family member, but the pain will recur soon. At this time, you should be alert to other diseases. For example, cervical radiculopathy caused by nerve root edema.

During an acute attack of this disease, massage and acupressure must not be performed, otherwise it will aggravate edema and cause the condition to worsen.

The correct approach is to eliminate nerve root edema first, and then have a professional doctor perform manipulation and massage.
