3 tips to help brain cancer patients protect their eyesight

Brain cancer patients often experience visual impairment, mainly because the tumor causes increased intracranial pressure, which in turn causes optic disc edema or the tumor directly compresses the optic nerve, which over time causes optic nerve atrophy and affects vision, or even blindness. Brain cancer patients should not only actively treat the primary disease, but also strengthen eye care to improve vision.

1. Eye-rolling method

Rotating the eyeballs is helpful to improve eye fatigue. The patient should sit down in a quiet place, relax the whole body, clear the distracting thoughts, open the eyes, keep the head and neck still, and rotate the eyeballs alone. First, gaze directly below, then slowly turn to the left, then to gaze directly above, to the right, and finally gaze directly below. Do this for 9 clockwise turns, then 6 counterclockwise turns. The eyeballs should be rotated to the limit as much as possible. It can exercise the eye muscles, improve nutrition, and enhance vision.

2. Eyewash method

Pour appropriate warm water into a disinfected basin, gently put the patient's face into the water, open the eyes in the water, move the eyeballs up and down, left and right 9 times, and then rotate them clockwise and counterclockwise 9 times. At first, the eyes will feel very uncomfortable when water enters the eyes, but as the eyeballs rotate, the eyes will gradually feel very comfortable. When doing this action, family members will assist, and let the patient leave the water after rotating for one second, while having difficulty breathing. This method can clean harmful substances and dust in the eyes, relieve eye fatigue, and improve vision.

3. Eye Breathing and Concentration

Choose a place with fresh air and quiet environment, preferably with green trees around. The patient can sit or stand, relax the whole body, look straight ahead at the trees, slowly inhale enough air, open the eyes wide, pause for a moment, then slowly exhale, and slowly close the eyes. Do this 9 times in a row, which helps to reduce eye fatigue.
