What are the differences between titanium alloy and aluminum alloy?

What are the differences between titanium alloy and aluminum alloy?

Aluminum alloy and titanium alloy are two metals that we often hear about. For example, people who often do decoration are very familiar with these two metals, but many people don’t know what the difference is between titanium alloy and aluminum alloy. In fact, the difference between the two is very large, and they can be distinguished by their appearance. The prices of the two are also different. The following introduces this knowledge.

First, how to distinguish aluminum alloy from titanium alloy?

1. If you have two pieces of material, one is aluminum and the other is titanium alloy, and you scratch them, the scratched piece is aluminum because titanium is harder than aluminum.

2. Acid resistance. Aluminum reacts chemically immediately when it encounters acid, while titanium has good acid resistance.

3. Measure the weight. Aluminum doors of the same size are the lightest, titanium doors are slightly heavier, and steel doors are the heaviest. However, if the manufacturer is deliberately deceiving people, they can use a mixture of aluminum and steel to make a door as heavy as titanium alloy. But it is easy to tell whether there is steel in the door. Take a magnet and see if it sticks to the door. Titanium alloy is not magnetic and will not attract magnets.

4. Look at the color. Find an inconspicuous corner and use sandpaper to remove the oxide film or paint on the surface to completely expose the metal underneath. Then take a close look at the color of the metal. Take an empty coke can (made of aluminum), sand off the paint on the surface, and compare it to the door. Aluminum alloy is light gray, titanium alloy is dark gray, and looks more shiny than aluminum.

5. If conditions permit, you can also measure resistance. The resistance of titanium alloy is much greater than that of aluminum alloy.

Youzhiya doors and windows are made of aviation-grade titanium-magnesium-aluminum alloy. The high-grade aluminum determines that Youzhiya doors and windows have the characteristics of low density, high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and good process performance.

Second, how to distinguish whether the sliding door is aluminum alloy or titanium alloy?

(1) Relative hardness: one piece is aluminum and the other is titanium alloy. As long as the two pieces of material are scratched against each other. The scratched piece is aluminum. Because titanium is harder than aluminum.

(2) Acid resistance: Aluminum reacts chemically immediately when it comes into contact with acid, while titanium has excellent acid resistance.

(3) Alkali resistance: Aluminum reacts chemically when it comes into contact with alkali, while titanium has very good alkali resistance.

(4) In terms of strength, it takes little effort to break aluminum with pliers or scissors, but it is very difficult to break titanium.

(5) Compare colors. If you scratch a piece of white paper a few times, aluminum will immediately leave a black scratch, while titanium will not leave any scratches.

Third, what is the difference between titanium-magnesium alloy doors and aluminum alloy doors

1. An alloy composed of titanium as the base and other alloying elements is called titanium alloy. Titanium alloy has the advantages of low density, high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and good processing performance. It is an ideal aerospace engineering structural material.

2. Aluminum alloy is made of pure aluminum with some alloy elements added, such as aluminum-manganese alloy, aluminum-copper alloy, aluminum-copper-magnesium hard aluminum alloy, and aluminum-zinc-magnesium-copper super-hard aluminum alloy. Aluminum alloy has better physical and mechanical properties than pure aluminum: easy processing, high durability, wide range of applications, good decorative effect, and rich colors. Aluminum alloys are divided into rust-proof aluminum, hard aluminum, super hard aluminum and other types. Each type has its own scope of use and its own code for users to choose.

3. Aluminum alloy still maintains its light weight, but its mechanical properties are significantly improved. The application of aluminum alloy materials has the following three aspects: one is as load-bearing components; two is as materials for doors, windows, pipes, covers, shells, etc.; three is as decorative and insulation materials. Aluminum alloys can be colored after anodizing to make various decorations. The surface of aluminum alloy plates and profiles can be subjected to secondary processing such as anti-corrosion, embossing, painting, printing, etc. to make various decorative plates and profiles as decorative materials.
