How to treat bone fractures?

Bone fractures are usually caused by external force or accidents. In such cases, the injured part needs to be fixed in time to avoid secondary damage to the bone. The treatment of bone fractures requires fixing the injured area and then performing internal conditioning to allow the bone cracks to heal faster. At the same time, do not move the injured area as this can easily cause bone displacement.

Causes

There are three main reasons for fractures:

Direct violence (40%):

When violence directly acts on a certain part of the bone and causes a fracture of that part, it often causes a fracture in the injured part, often accompanied by varying degrees of soft tissue damage. If the wheel hits the calf, a fracture of the tibia and fibula will occur at the impact site.

Indirect violence (30%):

Indirect violence can cause fractures at a distance through longitudinal conduction, leverage or torsion. For example, when one falls from a height and lands on one's feet, the trunk bends forward sharply due to gravity, and the vertebral bodies at the junction of the thoracic and lumbar spine are subjected to the folding force, causing compression fractures (conduction effect).

Cumulative strain (20%):

Long-term, repeated, minor direct or indirect injuries can cause fractures of a specific part of the limbs. For example, long-distance marches can easily cause fractures of the second and third metatarsal bones and the lower 1/3 of the fibula.

Bone cracks are medically called fissure fractures, which are a type of fracture. In clinical practice, crack fractures without obvious displacement are the most common, which are generally caused by direct blows, minor impacts and falls, etc. However, if you do not take it seriously and continue to move, it may easily lead to re-displacement of the fracture. Displaced fractures cause pain and may even require surgical treatment.

Nursing

1. Psychological care

Patients with fractures caused by sudden accidents will be very nervous, especially with concerns about functional exercises. Therefore, nursing staff should carefully observe the patient's emotional changes, patiently explain the importance and methods of functional exercises, and guide patients to exercise correctly, so as to relieve their concerns and enable them to actively exercise to cooperate with treatment.

2. Home care

(1) It is better to arrange a diet rich in vitamins and calcium.

(2) Increase sunshine time. If there is insufficient sunshine in winter, you can supplement with vitamin D or cod liver oil to promote calcium absorption.

(3) Functional exercise methods after discharge are the same as before.
