How to recover from flashes in eyes?

Flashes in the eyes are an eye disease. Normally, the eyes will often experience flashes, which greatly affects normal work and life. Usually, flashes in the eyes may be caused by astigmatism, which is a manifestation of retinal lesions. It can be treated with medication, and corrective glasses are also needed for correction. Wearing contact lenses is better for the eyes.

What causes flashes in the eyes?

Many people have experienced a sudden flash in front of their eyes, like lightning, which is described in ophthalmology as a photopsia. Flashes of light are a symptom that requires high attention. In addition to the most common cause, posterior vitreous detachment, it may also be a precursor to some other serious diseases.

Why does the flashing sensation occur?

In fact, during the separation of the vitreous body and the retina, not all parts can be separated easily, and the vitreous body in some parts may still be stuck to the retina. If you move your eyeball at this time, the vitreous body that is still stuck together will pull the retina, thereby stimulating the visual cells on the retina and producing a sense of flashing light.

What to do when a flash occurs?

Generally, the feeling of flashes indicates that there is traction of the vitreous body and retina. First, you should go to an ophthalmology hospital to dilate your pupil and examine your fundus, and do an eye ultrasound to see the specific situation of the traction. If the traction is too severe, it is likely to cause a hole in the retina, and in severe cases it may even cause retinal detachment.

When flashes of light appear in front of the eyes, many people do not realize the seriousness of the situation in the early stages and therefore do not take it seriously. In fact, after flashes of light appear in the eyes, you should seek medical attention promptly. Even if there is no retinal tear or retinal detachment, you should have regular check-ups to ensure that problems are discovered and treated as early as possible to avoid more serious illness and affect your quality of life.

Correction method for flash:

It mainly involves wearing glasses. Astigmatism glasses will have a special curvature at a certain angle to correct the astigmatism of the patient's eyes at that angle; contact lenses or laser corrective surgery can also correct astigmatism problems.

In addition to the cornea, the uneven curvature of the lens is another cause of astigmatism.

Astigmatism is caused by the eye's ability to bend light differently in different directions. The refraction of myopia, hyperopia or normal eyes is like a football or basketball, while the refraction of light by astigmatism is like that of a rugby ball, with some directions being larger and some being smaller, so the image cannot become a point. When you look at the eye chart, you may find that some directions are easier to identify and some directions are more difficult to identify. Both far and near vision will be affected, and in severe cases there will be double vision.

Astigmatism is usually congenital. If your astigmatism is high and you did not wear glasses when you were a child, then you will see things blurry from childhood to adulthood. However, since you have no comparison, it is more difficult to detect than myopia and hyperopia. People's vision is relatively poor when they are born. In order to fully develop, the refractive system needs to project a clear image onto the retina to stimulate the development of the fundus. People with high astigmatism have blurred vision both near and far. If the fundus is not fully stimulated, it will develop incompletely and cause amblyopia. If you have your eyes tested and cannot see 1.0 even with adequate glasses, you have amblyopia. If the child is over 10 years old, then the period of visual development has passed and amblyopia treatment will be basically ineffective.

Whether you have amblyopia or not, you can correct it by wearing glasses or contact lenses. If this is your first time wearing astigmatism glasses and you are not young anymore, it is best not to get the full astigmatism degree all at once (unless you are under 10 years old and need treatment for amblyopia), otherwise you will be more likely to experience visual distortion. This is because your brain has already accepted the state of astigmatism for a long time. For example, people who are used to watching old-style TVs will feel that things have become concave when they switch to flat-screen TVs.

If you choose to wear contact lenses, it is best to choose hard contact lenses, which are better at correcting astigmatism than ordinary contact lenses. However, due to their hard material, they take a long time to adapt to, and are more complicated to test and wear. They are usually only available in specialized eyewear stores and hospitals. However, their advantage is that they are breathable.

For most people, astigmatism neither gets worse nor gets worse. And myopia will worsen. If you are an adult and your myopia is stable, you can also choose to go to the hospital for examination and then undergo excimer laser surgery. This type of surgery can not only correct myopia, but also correct astigmatism through the doctor designing appropriate models and data for you. Generally, the astigmatism is required to be below 600 degrees, but the effect is better below 200 degrees.
