Are stainless steel pots harmful?

When it comes to stainless steel pots, I believe each of us is familiar with them. It is a necessity in our daily life and has penetrated into thousands of households. Although there are many conveniences in cooking with stainless steel, long-term use of stainless steel pots for cooking will cause some adverse harm to our health. Next, let us learn about the dangers of long-term use of stainless steel pots so that we can live a healthy life.

Hazards of stainless steel pots:

If the stainless steel pot is of good quality, it is harmless, so you should pay attention to choosing a stainless steel pot. In addition, you should also pay attention to the method of use:

1: Look at the color. High-quality stainless steel cookware has a strong texture and is bright silver, while low-quality stainless steel cookware is off-white.

2: Observe the details. The edges of the pot mouth of high-quality stainless steel cookware are smooth, bright and without cracks; while the edges of the pot mouth of low-quality stainless steel cookware are rough, with obvious cracks or traces of repair.

3: Look at the craftsmanship. High-quality stainless steel cookware is made of steel and aluminum steel forged at high temperature and high pressure, with a firm connection and no bottom falling off. Features: Debossed logo.

4: Choose a brand, reject small brands and half-baked brands, and choose large-scale cookware manufacturers with high visibility, good reputation and strength.

5. The key to the quality of a pot lies in the bottom of the pot. The thickness of the aluminum layer of the three-layer composite bottom should be evenly distributed. Some three-layer composite bottom structure stainless steel pots have uneven distribution of aluminum layer thickness, such as thin on both sides and thick in the middle, which leads to uneven heat conduction at the bottom of the pot. The lid structure should be reasonably designed and have good sealing performance. The slightly convex lid design allows water to circulate naturally, and its good sealing prevents heat from escaping easily. The handle should not be too hot, because a handle that is too hot will age easily.

Precautions for using stainless steel pots:

1. Stainless steel pots have good thermal conductivity and heat storage properties, so they should be used differently from iron pots. The general trick is: most cooking methods use hot pans and hot oil, while foods containing cornstarch must be cooked in cold pans and cold oil.

2. Two concepts: "Cold pan and cold oil": put oil and ingredients in before turning on the fire, then turn on the fire and cover the lid, basically do not stir-fry, wait for steam to come out of the edge of the pan, and add salt and other seasonings. “Hot pan, cold oil”: Heat the pan over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until it is hot enough. The identification method is to drop water into the pot. The water droplets do not evaporate, but become soybean-sized water droplets rolling in the pot. At this time, turn to low heat and then add the ingredients. If the water droplets are as big as sesame seeds, it is not hot enough and you need to continue cooking for a few dozen seconds.

3. After using the pot, you should immediately use the residual heat of the pot to clean the inner and outer walls and the bottom of the pot with warm water. After cleaning, wipe the inside and bottom of the pot with a dry cloth. After use, do not immediately rinse the pot with residual heat with cold water to avoid causing a lot of water mist, making the pot difficult to clean. It is recommended to use warm water for cleaning.

There is no need to use a large number of metal cleaning tools, a sponge or scouring pad will do. For stubborn stains, heat the pot with water for a few minutes before cleaning. If there are white spots on the inner wall of the pot after use, it is because the starch in the water and food is attached to the surface of the pot during the heating process. The removal method is simple. Just wipe it with a little vinegar or lemon slices, or use a special stainless steel cleaner to clean it.

Through the introduction above, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of stainless steel pots. To see whether a stainless steel pot is harmful or not, the main thing is to ensure the quality. Only by choosing a stainless steel pot of good quality can it not be harmful to the body. In addition, when choosing a stainless steel pot, you should also pay attention to the selection method, so that you can choose a stainless steel pot of good quality.
