What is the normal temperature on the armpit thermometer?

The armpit temperature of the thermometer is generally lower than the oral temperature, so if it is 37 degrees, it means that your body is already in a low fever. Therefore, the armpit temperature should not exceed 37 degrees. This is a relatively normal situation. If you feel that your body is hot, you should immediately cool down physically to avoid other complications.

Hyperthermia: also known as fever, refers to a rise in body temperature caused by any reason that leads to excessive heat production, reduced heat dissipation, temperature regulation disorder, or pyrogens acting on the temperature regulation center to shift the regulation point upward, and exceeds the normal range, which is called fever. Generally speaking, when the armpit temperature exceeds 37°C or the oral temperature exceeds 37.5°C, and the temperature fluctuates by more than 1°C during the day and night, it is considered hyperthermia.

The body temperature of a normal person remains in a relatively constant state, and its normal fluctuation range is: oral temperature 36-37℃, rectal temperature 0.3-0.5℃ higher than oral temperature, and axillary temperature 0.3-0.5℃ lower than oral temperature.

Before measuring body temperature, first shake the mercury column on the thermometer to below 35℃, and then disinfect the thermometer with an alcohol cotton ball. Axillary temperature measurement method: first wipe off the sweat from the armpit, place the end of the mercury column on the watch deep into the armpit, bend your arm over your chest and clamp it, and take it out after 10 minutes. Rectal temperature measurement method: first apply some oil to lubricate the mercury round end of the rectal thermometer, then slowly insert it 3-5 cm into the anus, hold the upper end of the rectal thermometer with your hand, and remove it after 3 minutes.

Oral temperature measurement: should be performed half an hour after eating, drinking or smoking. Place the watch obliquely under the tongue, ask the patient to close his lips tightly and not bite his teeth, and remove it after 3 minutes. When looking at the numbers on the thermometer, you should hold it horizontally and rotate it slowly, taking a horizontal line to observe the temperature scale indicated by the mercury column. Disinfect the thermometer with 75% alcohol after use. The axillary temperature measurement method is simple, safe, hygienic and comfortable, and is now widely used. A rectal temperature meter can be used to measure the temperature of comatose patients or infants.

A thermometer is a mercury thermometer. It has a glass tube at the top and a glass bubble at the bottom. Pure mercury is filled in the bulb and at the lower end of the tube, and the tube is marked with scales. Since the human body temperature does not exceed 42℃ and the minimum is not lower than 35℃, the scale of the thermometer is 35℃ to 42℃, and each small grid represents 0.1℃.

When "testing the thermometer", the glass bulb at the bottom of the thermometer is in contact with the human body. Because the human body temperature is higher than that of the thermometer, the mercury in the glass bulb is affected by the heat from the body, expands in volume, and rises along the glass tube until the temperature of the mercury is the same as that of the human body.

The structure of the thermometer is very special. There is a very thin constriction where the glass bulb and the capillary tube meet. When the thermometer leaves the human body, the mercury cools and contracts, and the mercury column breaks at the shrinkage point. The mercury on top cannot move back, so the thermometer can continue to display the human body temperature after it leaves the human body.
