What are the symptoms of paint poisoning

Paint is quite common in our daily life, especially it is a kind of chemical raw material commonly used for decorating houses. The ingredients in it are relatively complex, including some formaldehyde-like substances. We know that this type of chemical substance is toxic. If the human body inhales this component of paint, it will cause poisoning, often causing tears in the eyes, dizziness, nausea, physical fatigue, and more serious cases may even lead to symptoms of shock.

Symptoms of paint poisoning

Symptoms of eye and respiratory tract irritation during normal use.

Misuse: blurred vision, photophobia, tearing, and eye pain.

Short-term exposure to high concentrations of formaldehyde vapor can cause systemic diseases mainly caused by damage to the respiratory system. Mild poisoning includes symptoms such as dizziness, headache, fatigue, etc. Moderate poisoning includes persistent cough, hoarseness, chest pain, and difficulty breathing, which may be accompanied by increased body temperature and leukocytosis. Severe poisoning may cause laryngeal edema and suffocation, pulmonary edema, coma, and shock.

Emergency measures for paint poisoning and suffocation accidents

(1) If the person concerned is able to move, he/she should try to leave the construction room quickly and evacuate to a safe area such as a corridor to wait for rescue.

(2) Upon receiving the alarm, the highest-level on-duty manager on site shall immediately notify the on-site emergency rescue team and medical rescue team to take their positions and prepare to implement rescue and emergency rescue. At the same time, he shall order the relevant work teams to suspend normal construction, and nearby workers shall evacuate the construction danger zone first;

(3) Clear out the personnel, understand the situation, and determine the number of people who may be injured and their possible locations. And control possible fire sources and power sources nearby to prevent subsequent fires.

(4) Depending on the situation at the scene, strong personnel who have not been affected by the accident can be organized to enter the scene for rescue. First, windows should be opened for ventilation, and then the injured should be rescued. Rescue operations should be quick and decisive. If the distance is far, you must wear a protective mask before entering the danger zone to rescue people. In principle, people without protective masks may enter and exit the danger zone only once and should evacuate.

(5) After the injured person is carried away from the dangerous area and moved to a safe area, the doctor should take necessary treatment measures, lay the injured person flat, unbutton his collar, keep the airway open, use chest compression to exchange air, and use mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration in serious cases. If the patient's symptoms do not improve after first aid, or if the poisoning is severe, he or she should be sent to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
