How long does it usually take for hemorrhoids and blood in the stool to heal on their own?

There are many types of hemorrhoids, and the severity of the disease is also divided into multiple levels. It is said that nine out of ten people have hemorrhoids. In fact, many people have hemorrhoids, but they don’t know it yet, simply because the symptoms of these people’s hemorrhoids are not obvious. If hemorrhoids become serious, blood in the stool may occur. If you have blood in the stool, you should go to a regular hospital for examination immediately. Generally speaking, hemorrhoids will not heal on their own if they reach the stage of blood in the stool.

1. Hemorrhoids generally do not heal on their own

Hemorrhoids will not heal naturally without treatment, because hemorrhoids are not caused by bacterial or viral infection, but by venous reflux obstruction, congestion, and varicose veins in the submucosal and muscular layers of the rectum and anus due to various reasons. It has no direct relationship with viral or bacterial infection. The treatment of hemorrhoids must first maintain smooth bowel movements, eat easily digestible foods with less residue, a combination of coarse and fine foods, drink less strong tea, coffee, alcohol and eat less spicy foods. You can apply hemorrhoid ointment locally, take a potassium permanganate warm water sitz bath, and do anal lifting exercises. In severe cases, you can consider surgery.

2. Causes of Hemorrhoids

The causes of hemorrhoidal bleeding are that feces rub against the raised varicose hemorrhoidal veins during defecation and that force is exerted during defecation, which increases the pressure in the blood vessels and causes the hemorrhoidal veins to rupture.

1. Anatomical factors

Due to the pressure of gravity, standing or sitting for a long time will cause obstruction of venous blood, poor blood return and easy formation of blood stasis. Secondly, the anal canal will be compressed by feces, causing varicose veins to bend and dilate.

2. Abdominal pressure factors

Overeating or sitting in the toilet for a long time can easily lead to increased intra-abdominal pressure, which hinders blood return.

3. Genetic factors

Due to congenital heredity, the pressure in blood vessels gradually increases, making them prone to expansion and forming hemorrhoids.

4. Occupational factors

Due to the particularity of the work, standing or sitting for a long time will affect the blood return. The blood flow in the pelvic cavity is slower. Due to lack of exercise, the intestinal peristalsis in the body will be reduced, and the feces will not be easy to move downward, forming habitual constipation and inducing the rise of hemorrhoidal veins.

5. Anus is not clean

Not hygienic. It starts with anal infection and inflammation, and coupled with insufficient external resistance, it is easy to expand and spread quickly, easily forming hemorrhoids.

6. Local stimulation

Excessive exposure to cold or chills can cause constipation, diarrhea and other adverse symptoms, which can easily irritate the anus and form hemorrhoidal veins, resulting in poor hemorrhoidal venous return. In addition, weak anal sphincter, dietary reasons, and excessive fatigue can cause hemorrhoids.

3. Clinical manifestations

Hemorrhoids cause blood in the stool, mainly internal hemorrhoids bleeding. There will be blood on the toilet paper after defecation, blood on the surface of the stool, bright red blood dripping or spurting from the anus. The blood does not mix with the stool and is often painless. It usually develops slowly, with no symptoms or mild symptoms in the early stages. When anemia is severe, symptoms may include pale complexion, fatigue, loss of appetite, palpitations, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath after physical activity, edema, etc.
