There are 7 reasons why the vitreous body of the eye is cloudy

Vitreous opacity is an eye disease that occurs in many elderly people, and its occurrence seriously affects people's normal life. So what exactly causes vitreous opacities in the eyes? Most people don't quite understand this. In fact, there are seven reasons for vitreous opacities in the eyes, and the first reason is inflammation.

1. Inflammatory vitreous opacity:

The vitreous is an avascular tissue, and vitreous inflammation is caused by the spread of inflammation from surrounding tissues. Such as iridocyclitis and retinal choroidal lesions. Exudates of inflammatory tissue, inflammatory cells, necrotic tissue, pigment particles, and phagocytes attached to the vitreous fibrous tissue produce various types of turbidity.

2. Traumatic vitreous opacity:

Blunt contusion and penetrating injury of the eyeball are often accompanied by intraocular hemorrhage and cause opacity. Foreign bodies in the eye and secondary infection can also cause opacity. Pigments, trauma, uveitis, etc. cause pigment particles to enter the vitreous.

3. Vitreous degeneration and opacity:

As we age, the vitreous body gradually degenerates, showing signs of condensation and liquefaction. The condensed area has a high density and may contain flocculent, filamentous, or colorless and transparent turbid substances. The vitreous structure disintegrates at the liquefied site, forming fluid-filled voids. This type of vitreous opacity is more common in people with high myopia and the elderly. It usually remains unchanged for a long time and does not affect vision. It is more common in the elderly and those with severe myopia.

4. Flash vitreous liquefaction:

Crystals are seen in the vitreous body, and appear shiny when exposed to light. The crystals are mainly cholesterol, but can also be phosphates, tyrosine, etc. The cause of this turbidity is unknown.

5. Snow flare syndrome:

Formerly known as quasar vitritis. Countless white spherical or disc-shaped bodies are seen floating in the vitreous cavity, like stars in the sky. The crystals are fatty acids and calcium phosphate salts. It is more common in hyperlipidemia and diabetes.

6. Hemorrhagic vitreous opacity:

Ruptured blood vessels in the retina and uveal tract may cause bleeding that flows into and accumulates in the vitreous cavity, resulting in vitreous hemorrhage. Bleeding due to retinal phlebitis, venous occlusion, diabetes, hypertension, trauma or surgery enters the vitreous body, forming red, yellow, grayish white flaky or mass turbidity during the process of blood entry and absorption.

7 Systemic diseases and vitreous opacities:

Some febrile diseases are often accompanied by vitreous opacities. Such as influenza, typhoid fever, meningitis, etc., there are also reports that malaria, relapsing fever, etc. can cause vitreous opacities. Nephritis, pregnancy toxemia, and diabetes may also cause vitreous opacities. Many of the factors introduced above will cause vitreous opacities. Many people know that if such a disease is not prevented in time, it is very likely to cause blindness. At present, it is because of such a disease that many ophthalmic problems will occur.
