How to clean tea stains from teapot spout

The teapot we usually use to make tea will cause tea scale to appear if it is not cleaned for a long time, especially on the spout of the teapot. If tea scale appears, it may be troublesome to clean it. After all, the space in this area is relatively small. At this time, you must prepare some suitable tools to remove it. Too much tea scale not only affects the taste of the tea, but also has certain harm to the body.

How to clean tea stains from teapot spout

(1) Remove tea stains from metal tea strainers: When using metal tea strainers, the tea stains will turn them black. If they cannot be washed off with a mild detergent, you can soak them in vinegar or bleach to easily remove the stains.

(2) Remove tea stains from teacups or teapots: Teacups and teapots will accumulate a lot of tea stains after being used for a long time. Rub them with a sponge dipped in salt and they can be easily removed.

(3) To remove small pieces of tea stains, soak them in a solution of bleach or cleaning powder and leave them overnight to remove the tea stains.

(4) You can scrub it with toothpaste or crushed egg shells, then rinse it with clean water.

(5) Put a small spoonful of orange powder or orange juice into a teacup or teapot, fill it with water and leave it for 2-3 hours. This will cause the tea stains to lose their adhesion to the tea set and make them easier to remove.

(6) Peel the potatoes and put all the peeled potato skins into a teapot and a teacup filled with water and heat them to boil. After the water boils, let it cool down a little before scrubbing. This will easily clean the tea stains attached to the bottom of the teapot and teacup. This is a clever way to remove tea stains. The principle is that potatoes contain starch, which has strong adsorption capacity, so it is easy to remove the scale in the cup.

(7) Tea stains that have been deposited for a long time are difficult to clean. You can soak them in heated rice vinegar or baking soda for a day and night, and then scrub them with a toothbrush to easily clean them. It should be noted that if you are using a purple clay teapot, you do not need to clean it in this way. The purple clay teapot itself has pores, and the minerals in the tea scale can be absorbed by these pores, which can maintain the teapot and will not cause harmful substances to "run" into the tea and be absorbed by the human body.

The harm of tea stains on teapot spout

The tea polyphenols in tea leaves and the metal elements in tea rust will oxidize to produce brown tea rust, commonly known as tea scale. Among them, various metals such as cadmium, lead, iron, arsenic, mercury and other substances harmful to the body such as nitrite will adhere to the smooth surface of the tea cup.

Tea scale is a reddish-brown compound formed by tannic acid in tea leaves (a complex phenolic organic compound with very unstable chemical properties) which is oxidized and polymerized when exposed to air. It is insoluble in water and slowly precipitates from the tea leaves, clinging to the wall of the cup or pot. In addition, tea scale also contains a substance, which is formed by the oxidation reaction of tea polyphenols in tea leaves and metal elements (not heavy metal elements). The latter is the main reason why tea scale is said to be harmful. It should be emphasized that tea scale does contain compounds formed by tea polyphenols and metal elements, such as calcium, magnesium and other compounds. But whether it contains heavy metal compounds depends on the quality of the tea leaves and the quality of the water used to brew the tea.
