How to treat fungal stomatitis

Whenever there is a problem in the mouth, eating is a torture for the patient. If you don't eat, you will be hungry, and if you eat, your mouth will hurt. Among them, fungal stomatitis is a more common one. It is an infection of the oral mucosa caused by fungi. It can manifest as white mucosal spots in the mouth. This is also commonly known as thrush. Babies are also one of the high-risk groups. So how to treat fungal stomatitis? Let's learn about it below.

Fungal stomatitis mainly occurs on the buccal mucosa, tongue and palate, and can even spread to the pharynx.

Note: 1) The occurrence of thrush is related to the body's immune dysfunction and abnormal changes in the local environment. Therefore, while ensuring comprehensive nutrition for children, it is also necessary to ensure indoor air circulation, keep the room temperature not too high and prevent moisture to prevent the growth and reproduction of Candida albicans.

2) Cultivate normal physiological bacteria. Regularly supplement B vitamins (B2, B6, etc.) and so on.

3) Use antibiotics and corticosteroids with caution. Avoid long-term use of broad-spectrum antibiotics.

4) Mothers should clean their nipples before breastfeeding. Pay attention to sterilizing the baby bottles, and we recommend keeping them away from them.

5) Children’s oral cavity should be kept clean. Apply hydrogen peroxide and saline for local cleaning, and scrub with 2-3% sodium bicarbonate solution, 2-3 times a day. In severe cases of thrush, a white film may appear. You can try to peel it off gently to prevent suffocation caused by the white film falling off during flushing. Usually pay attention to the hygiene of various supplies.

6) Use antifungal drugs topically for more than one week. For example, you can grind nystatin tablets into powder and sprinkle it into the baby's mouth 4-6 times a day without using a cotton swab. You can also apply nystatin cod liver oil to your mouth.

7) In addition, the traditional method of 0.5%-1% gentian violet (i.e. gentian violet) has been used clinically for decades with good efficacy and low price. Apply locally on the oral mucosa, 2-3 times a day, usually for about 3 days. Not used if you have a history of allergies. Gentian violet is an external medicine, but it can also be taken orally. Swallowing a small amount will not harm your health.

8) For traditional Chinese medicine, you can try using Bingpeng Powder or Qingdai Powder, mix them with honey or simple syrup into a paste, and apply it to the affected area 3-4 times a day.
