The throat is related to people's pronunciation, so when there is a problem with the throat, it will directly affect people's lives. There are many types of throat diseases in clinical practice. The throat is composed of many small parts. Careful observation will reveal that there are many small bumps in the throat near the root of the tongue. These small bumps may be physiological or pathological, so they should be taken seriously. 1. Taste buds Under normal circumstances, there are small pink bumps at the base of the tongue. Those are taste buds, which sense sour, sweet, bitter, spicy and other tastes. We cannot live without them. If it is large but there are no symptoms, or sometimes just mild discomfort, it may be the tongue lymphatic tissue - also called lingual tonsil, which does not require treatment. If the tumor is large and painful or bleeding, you should go to the hospital for a biopsy and pathological section to determine whether it is a tumor. Benign tumors are mainly papilloma, which can be removed surgically or treated with laser. If the cancer is malignant, surgery or other treatments such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy are required. 2. Viral infection The general symptoms of viral infection are blister formation and pain, which is also called viral pharyngitis clinically. It is caused by viral infection combined with bacterial infection, or chronic pharyngitis. There will be hyperplastic follicles on the posterior pharyngeal wall, and there will usually be a foreign body sensation in the throat, and some will be accompanied by irritating dry cough. Now the symptoms appear for a relatively short time, and there was no inducement before. It is considered to be caused by viral pharyngitis. 3. Lingual papillae The bumps at the base of the tongue are medically called lingual papillae. According to their shape, lingual papillae can be divided into filiform papillae, fungiform papillae and annular papillae. The circumflex papillae may be referred to as circumvallate papillae because they are the largest and are arranged in front of the terminal sulcus. The papilla has a protrusion in the center and is surrounded by annular grooves. There are taste buds in the groove walls to sense taste. It may be a mild lingual papillitis. If it does not affect eating, drinking and speaking, it can be left untreated. If it is more serious, antibiotics or antiseptic mouthwashes may be used. If there are small bumps on the back wall of the mouth, it may be hyperplasia of the posterior pharyngeal wall lymph nodes caused by chronic pharyngitis. |
