Why are my gums always swollen, painful and inflamed?

Almost everyone will have toothache. Although toothache is not a serious illness, it can be very distressing. You cannot eat anything, including hard and spicy food. Sometimes it even affects your sleep, and your whole body becomes unwell. So what exactly causes toothache? Why are my gums always swollen, painful and inflamed? Is there any good pain relief method?

The so-called gingivitis is actually an inflammation of the root of the tooth. Because the dental pulp (dental nerve) is infected, the surrounding gums swell. Gumitis is a common disease. Its symptoms include: red and swollen gums, swollen cheeks, pain when exposed to cold or hot stimuli, frequent bleeding when eating or brushing teeth, etc.

If your gums are inflamed, you can take the following measures to treat them:

1. If your gums are inflamed and painful, you can rinse your mouth with light salt water, put a skinned Sichuan peppercorn on the most painful part of the tooth and hold it in your mouth, which can initially relieve the pain.

2. If you have gingivitis, you can chew walnut kernels in your mouth. If you fry the walnut kernels before using them, the effect will be better, because walnut kernels are alkaline food. After chewing slowly, they can neutralize the acidic substances on the tooth surface and in the mouth, so the teeth will not hurt.

3. In fact, the key to treating gingivitis is to remove dental plaque and tartar, that is, to perform supragingival scaling, which is what we usually call teeth cleaning. During teeth cleaning, the dental plaque and tartar deposited on the tooth surface can be mechanically removed and the tooth surface polished. If the gingivitis is severe and the pain is severe, you can take some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs a few days before teeth cleaning, and then go for teeth cleaning after the swelling and pain in the gums have basically disappeared. Teeth cleaning is the most effective and quickest way to treat gingivitis. It not only treats your inflammation, but also whitens your teeth. For your health and beauty, it is recommended that you clean your teeth every six months or at least once a year. After cleaning your teeth, your gingivitis will disappear quickly and your mouth will feel fresh as before. Experience in developed countries has shown that cleaning teeth every 6 to 12 months is an effective measure to prevent gingivitis. Patients who already have symptoms of gingivitis should receive systematic periodontal treatment in a timely manner.

4. When your gums are inflamed, insist on brushing your teeth with warm water and rinsing your mouth with warm tea. Gum inflammation is actually an inflammation of the dental pulp nerves. The dental pulp nerves are sensitive to temperature and can cause toothache when exposed to cold stimulation. Brushing your teeth with warm water and rinsing your mouth with warm tea can not only effectively protect your teeth, but also reduce stimulation to the dental pulp nerves and avoid toothache. 5. Eat warm food easily, do not eat food that is too cold or too hot, and do not eat food that is too sour or too sweet, because these things will cause irritation to the inflamed teeth and aggravate the pain of the dental pulp nerves.

6. Brush your teeth slowly, carefully and attentively. It is best to brush your teeth with desensitizing or acid-resistant toothpaste. These two types of toothpaste contain high fluoride content (banned in high-fluoride areas), which can effectively protect teeth and have the effects of acid resistance, anti-aging and pain relief. However, you must use the correct brushing method when brushing your teeth. It is recommended to use a toothbrush with soft bristles and a rounded tip. Correct brushing is the simplest and most effective way to prevent gingivitis. You should brush along the long axis of the teeth, brush the upper teeth downwards and the lower teeth upwards, and brush every tooth surface. This way of brushing not only cleans the toothbrush but also massages the gums, promotes blood circulation in the gums, and prevents gum inflammation. If necessary, use a toothpick or dental floss to clean areas that are hard to reach with a toothbrush.
