Are the bugs in bayberry harmful?

In life, many people prefer to eat bayberry, because each bayberry tastes sour and tastes good, and the vitamin C contained in bayberry is particularly high. For some children, eating bayberry is more suitable, but the storage time of bayberry is relatively short, and it is particularly easy for some white insects to appear in bayberry. These insects are the larvae of fruit flies, so the insects in bayberry are harmful.

The insects in bayberry are basically harmless

The small white bugs in the bayberry are actually the larvae of fruit flies and are not harmful to the human body. Fruit flies usually feed on honey, fruits, etc. and are relatively clean. During the breeding season, it will be attracted by the smell of bayberry and lay eggs on the surface of the bayberry. After the fruit fly eggs hatch into larvae, they burrow into the fruit flesh and feed on it. If it grows naturally, the larvae will not fly away until they mature and turn into fruit flies. From birth to growth, fruit fly larvae are almost always in a pollution-free environment, so there are almost no bacteria that are harmful to the human body, so eating bayberry will not upset your stomach.

Drosophila larvae are a high-quality protein that contains antimicrobial peptides. Some people regard this insect as a treasure, believing that it can improve people's resistance. However, it would be too far-fetched to attribute the fact that eating bayberry will not upset your stomach to the bugs inside it.

The shelf life of bayberry is very short, only 1 to 2 days at room temperature. If there are bugs in it, it will mature as the bayberry deteriorates. Fruit fly larvae are harmless to humans during the white larvae stage, but once they mature and turn black, and crawl out, they become harmful to humans if eaten. Therefore, bayberries should be eaten as soon as possible after purchase.

Bayberry contains antibacterial ingredients and is not easy to upset your stomach

Bayberry is not likely to cause stomach upset because it contains an effective bactericidal ingredient. This ingredient has an inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli and Shigella dysenteriae, and is effective for those with persistent diarrhea. Bayberry contains vitamins C and B. Unlike other fruits, although it tastes sweet and sour, it does not harm the spleen and stomach.

However, you should eat bayberry in moderation. For people with gastric ulcers, the acidic components of bayberry can irritate the gastric mucosa. People of this type should eat less, no more than 10 pills a day.

In addition, you should rinse your mouth or brush your teeth in time after eating bayberry to avoid damaging your teeth. Diabetic patients should eat bayberry with caution to avoid high blood sugar.

Although bayberry weevils are harmless to humans, most people still have psychological barriers to them. In fact, you can force the bugs out of the bayberry by soaking it in cold boiled water with salt for 20 minutes. It should be noted that the bayberry must be soaked in salt water before being put into the refrigerator, otherwise the insects will be frozen to death and cannot be forced out by soaking in salt water.
