What's wrong with the pain above the left hip

What's wrong with the pain above the left hip

Many people experience pain above the hip. This is an abnormal condition. It is possible that it is due to trauma, previous trauma to the bone surface, recurrence of old injuries, or femoral head necrosis. These are the main causes of pain above the left hip. It is necessary to find a suitable method for treatment, choose regular means, and do a good job of prevention.

The hip joint is the largest joint in the human body. It is surrounded by soft tissues such as muscles and ligaments, and has a complex structure.

There are many diseases that can cause hip pain, including femoral head necrosis, synovitis, sciatica, lumbar disc herniation, etc.

Femoral head necrosis

Femoral head necrosis is a common disabling disease of the hip joint in my country. It is caused by bone circulation disorders and bone cell death, which lead to changes in the femoral head structure, and in the later stage, femoral head collapse, hip joint pain and dysfunction.

1. Traumatic:

Trauma leads to femoral head necrosis, such as femoral neck fracture, hip dislocation, hip trauma, hip sprain and contusion caused by external force. It can directly or indirectly damage the blood supply to the femoral head, leading to ischemic necrosis of the femoral head. Trauma is the main factor causing femoral head necrosis. However, whether or not traumatic avascular necrosis of the femoral head occurs and its extent mainly depends on the degree of vascular damage and the compensatory capacity of the collateral circulation.

2 Non-traumatic:

There are many causes of non-traumatic femoral head necrosis, including alcoholism, high-dose hormone therapy, local radiotherapy, decompression sickness, systemic lupus erythematosus, coagulation dysfunction, hemoglobinopathy, etc. Among them, alcoholism and hormone-induced femoral head necrosis are the most common causes in my country.

Drug-induced femoral head necrosis, such as long-term use of hormone drugs due to bronchitis, asthma, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, neck, shoulder, waist and leg pain, diabetes, skin diseases, etc.

Alcohol stimulation leads to femoral head necrosis. Long-term and heavy drinking causes alcohol to accumulate in the body, leading to increased blood lipids and damage to liver function. The increase in blood lipids increases blood viscosity, slows blood flow, and changes blood coagulation, which can cause blood vessels to

Blockage, hemorrhage or fat embolism can cause bone necrosis. The clinical manifestations include worsening symptoms after drinking, duck gait, heart failure, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, etc.

Hip arthritis

The early symptoms of hip arthritis are not obvious, and the symptoms are mostly intermittent. In addition, the symptoms are not systemic, so it is difficult to attract the attention of friends. As the disease progresses, the symptoms of hip arthritis will gradually become more obvious, including stiffness, soreness, pain, and even limited movement.

The occurrence of this disease may be related to the following factors:

1. Obesity

There is a direct correlation between weight gain and the incidence of hip arthritis. Obesity is an aggravating factor. Weight loss in obese people can reduce the incidence of hip arthritis.

2 Bone density

As cartilage becomes thinner and stiffer, its tolerance for stress decreases, thus increasing the risk of hip arthritis in people with osteoporosis.

3. Trauma and external force tolerance

When joints are subjected to unbalanced muscle force and local pressure, cartilage degeneration occurs. Osteoarthritis does not occur with normal joint movement or even after strenuous exercise.

4. Genetic factors:

The joint involvement varies among different races. It is more common in Caucasians, but less common in people of color and Chinese. Gender also has an impact, and this disease is more common in women.

The hip joint bears the enormous weight of the human body, and its articular cartilage is the earliest to be deformed, with characteristic lesions.

When the glycoprotein in the cartilage matrix is lost, the cartilage on the surface of the joint softens and breaks at the pressure-bearing sites, making the surface of the cartilage appear velvety. Later, the cartilage gradually falls off in pieces, causing the cartilage layer to become thinner or even disappear.

Micro fractures and necrosis occur in the bone under the cartilage, and bone hyperplasia on the joint surface and surrounding areas causes bone sclerosis, osteophytes and bone cystic changes on X-rays. The synovium of the joints may show cavity proliferative changes due to destruction of cartilage and bone and the shedding of metabolites into the joint cavity, including proliferation of synovial cells and infiltration of lymphocytes. In severe hip arthritis, the joint capsule wall is fibrotic and the surrounding tendons are also damaged.

Abnormalities in the hip joint structure

These patients may have a special history of hip joint disease, such as congenital hip disease or a history of hip dislocation, and often experience occasional joint pain.

Generally, the condition can be improved by resting and taking some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs. If joint pain does not improve after taking medicine and resting, you should see a specialist promptly to seek effective treatment options to relieve hip pain as soon as possible.

Damage to tissues around joints

These patients often have a history of trauma or have been walking or standing for a long time. Rest or oral anti-inflammatory analgesics can provide relief.

Warm reminder: Hip joint diseases often manifest as pain, soreness, swelling and limited joint movement. If hip pain worsens when squatting, it may indicate hip disease. Hip joint diseases are difficult to prevent, so if you experience pain, you should go to a specialist as soon as possible and seek formal treatment.
