Teenagers experience chest pain when breathing

Teenagers are not prone to illness when they are in good health because they are full of energy. However, some teenagers often experience chest pain when breathing, which does not rule out the possibility of being related to gastrointestinal diseases. It is necessary to find the cause, choose the appropriate method and receive effective treatment.

1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease

This is a male patient in his early 30s who is overweight. He sought medical attention after experiencing recurrent pain behind the sternum for about a month. His pain had no obvious cause and came and went, often presenting a stabbing sensation that worsened when he ate or drank, and was accompanied by symptoms of acid reflux, belching, nausea and vomiting.

This is a disease in which gastric contents reflux into the esophagus or even the mouth, and gastric acid corrodes the esophageal mucosal tissue, causing esophageal inflammation and ulcers. The occurrence of this disease is related to long-term poor eating habits, such as eating too fast and too much, eating before going to bed, and eating greasy, spicy, and irritating foods.

To treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, you first need to improve the above-mentioned bad eating habits and take antacids, gastrointestinal motility drugs and mucosal protective agents under the guidance of a doctor. If necessary, minimally invasive surgery is required.

2. Coronary heart disease, angina pectoris and myocardial infarction

This is an elderly man in his 70s who has been experiencing recurrent chest tightness and pain for some time, especially after weather changes, emotional excitement, and physical fatigue, and each attack lasts for several minutes. Recently, I felt that the symptoms of chest pain were getting more and more severe. I went to the hospital for a check-up and found that it was a manifestation of coronary heart disease.

Coronary heart disease is a heart disease caused by the formation of coronary atherosclerotic plaques, which leads to narrowing or blockage of the heart arteries and insufficient blood supply to the myocardium. Typical symptoms include: pain in the left chest or behind the sternum, and the pain may also radiate to other parts of the body such as the shoulder, back, head and neck, arms and abdomen, often accompanied by cold sweat, palpitations, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing.

The three high diseases, smoking and drinking, and a diet that is too greasy and fatty are all risk factors for coronary heart disease, and we need to pay attention to improving and quitting them in our daily lives. Angina pectoris and myocardial infarction caused by coronary heart disease attacks are both very dangerous conditions. You should call the emergency number immediately and go to the hospital for emergency treatment.

3. Leukemia

This was a patient in his 20s who said that his sternum hurt so much that he couldn't even touch it, and he also had symptoms of fever. The doctor recommended that he go to the hematology department, and he was finally diagnosed with leukemia. The blood cells of leukemia patients will proliferate excessively, causing increased pressure in the bone marrow cavity and causing pain. The sternum is the place where hematopoietic cells are most abundant, so sternum tenderness is an important sign of blood system diseases.

Sternum pain is a symptom, not a disease. Many diseases can cause sternum pain, which needs to be combined with other symptoms or examination results to finally determine what disease is causing the posterior sternum pain. Therefore, if the sternum pain symptoms are obvious and persistent, you must go to the hospital for further examination to avoid missing the best time for treatment.
