Dandelion kills Helicobacter pylori

Dandelion kills Helicobacter pylori

Dandelion is a common plant in nature and a commonly used medicinal ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine. It has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and dispersing nodules, and promoting diuresis and relieving stranguria. Helicobacter pylori is a pathogen that is easily infected in life. Helicobacter pylori mainly causes stomach discomfort and duodenal diseases. Western medicine mostly uses amoxicillin and omeprazole for treatment, so can dandelion kill Helicobacter pylori?

Helicobacter pylori is a spiral-shaped, micro-anaerobic bacterium that has very strict requirements for growth conditions.

It was first successfully isolated from gastric mucosal biopsy tissue of patients with chronic active gastritis in 1983 and is currently the only known type of microorganism that can survive in the human stomach. In patients with chronic active gastritis, the detection rate of Helicobacter pylori is 95% to 100%; in patients with duodenal ulcer, the detection rate is 85% to 95%; in patients with gastric ulcer, the detection rate is 70% to 80%; and in patients with gastric cancer, the detection rate is about 80%.

What are the symptoms of Helicobacter pylori infection?

Common symptoms such as acid reflux, heartburn, stomach pain and bad breath are mainly caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori.

Generally, there are three symptoms of Helicobacter pylori infection:

1. Bad breath: Since Helicobacter pylori can survive in dental plaque, after an infection occurs in the oral cavity, it will directly produce smelly carbonized substances, causing bad breath.

2. Gastric acid reflux: Infection with Helicobacter pylori can lead to excessive gastric acid, resulting in acid reflux and heartburn, accompanied by abdominal pain, bloating, morning nausea, acid reflux, belching, hunger, and vomiting in severe cases.

3. Stomach pain: Stomach pain is the most typical symptom of ulcer disease, which shows that the gastric and duodenal mucosa are being digested.

Helicobacter pylori has three complications: gastric bleeding, anemia and gastric ulcer. Severe Helicobacter pylori infection can lead to atrophic inflammation with intestinal metaplasia, which is the pre-stage of gastric cancer. The incidence of cancer is more than 20 times higher than other gastrointestinal diseases.

Treatment options for Helicobacter pylori

Currently, the "triple method and quadruple method" are commonly used in clinical practice to cure Helicobacter pylori. However, many patients relapse after killing Helicobacter pylori. If you take large amounts of western medicine or antibiotics for a long time to kill Helicobacter pylori, it will cause adverse consequences such as drug resistance, dizziness, dermatitis, drug allergies, and in severe cases even drug-induced liver damage.

Can dandelions kill Helicobacter pylori?

From March 2003 to June 2006, a hospital in Sichuan used dandelion combined with omeprazole capsules to treat 66 patients with Helicobacter pylori (Hp)-positive erosive gastritis (CSG), and compared them with 66 patients treated with triple therapy of Western medicine. The results are reported as follows.

Treatment method: The treatment group used 30 g of dandelion to soak in water and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning and evening; omeprazole 20 mg, once in the morning and evening. The control group received triple therapy with Western medicine: amoxicillin 0.5 g, 3 times a day, orally. Metronidazole 0.2 g, 3 times a day, orally. Omeprazole 20 mg, orally twice a day. The treatment course for both groups was 4 weeks, and other medications were discontinued during the treatment period.

Conclusion: Dandelion has similar efficacy to amoxicillin and metronidazole in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori, and has the characteristics of wide source, low price and few side effects.

Ancient medical books record that dandelion is effective for stomach problems. For example, the Qing Dynasty's "Complete Collection of Surgical Symptoms and Treatments" states: "Dandelion is roasted on a tile until it is dry and black, then ground into powder and taken with liquor to treat epigastric pain." Modern research has found that dandelion can both kill and inhibit Helicobacter pylori and repair damage to the gastric mucosa, so it has a good effect on stomach problems.

How to use dandelion tea?

There are three ways to kill Helicobacter pylori by soaking dandelions in water:

The first method: Use dandelion leaf tea, take 3g per day, brew with hot water and drink as tea.

The second method: Use dandelion root tea, take 2g per day, brew with hot water and drink as tea.

The third method: Use dandelion roots and rose petals in a ratio of 3:1 to make dandelion rose tea. Take one bag a day and brew it with hot water as a substitute for tea.

The author suggests choosing the third method, because dandelion is slightly cold in nature. People with weak spleen and stomach should not drink it alone. Then, it can be consumed together with Rosa thornica. Rosa thornica can not only neutralize the coldness of dandelion, but it can also treat stomach pain and has the effect of warming and nourishing the stomach. The two together have a very good effect on stomach problems.

Dandelion can also reduce fire and inflammation, and remove dampness and heat. We are about to enter the dog days of summer. At this time, we can drink dandelion tea to prevent sore throat caused by internal heat, clear away heat and detoxify, act as a diuretic and disperse nodules, and also reduce fire and dampness, improve nausea, yellow tongue coating, bad breath and other problems caused by dampness and heat, and it also has a good effect on acne caused by dampness and heat.
