Enterobiasis is an intestinal parasitic disease characterized by itching of the anus and perineum. It is extremely prevalent all over the world, with 3 to 5 million infected people worldwide. It is common in southern and northern my country, and the infection rate in children is higher than that in adults. The infection rate is particularly high among children in collective institutions. Domestic survey data show that the infection rate among children is as high as 40% to 70%. In families with poor hygiene conditions, most members often fall ill at the same time. Therefore, enterobiasis is a disease that deserves attention.

1. General treatment and care

This disease must be cured by combining prevention with drug deworming. The child must wear full-crotch pants to prevent fingers from touching the anus, and wash the skin around the anus with soap and warm water every morning. The underwear that is taken off should be steamed or soaked in boiling water and then exposed to the sun to kill insects for 10 consecutive days. Pinworms have a short lifespan and may heal on their own if repeated infection can be prevented.

2. Medication

(1) Mebendazole is most effective when taken orally.

(2) Take enbopirovinium orally and take it again after 7 days. Do not crush the tablets. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 2 weeks. The stool will turn red 1 to 2 days after taking the medicine.

(3) Take thiabendazole orally for 3 consecutive days, and it has a very good effect.

(4) To prevent recurrence, take another dose of benzylphenol after 14 days. It has good efficacy and few side effects, except for occasional nausea and vomiting.

(5) Thiethylpyridine has a significant effect in expelling pinworms.

3. Local treatment

If you have anal itching or eczema, wash the area before going to bed every night and apply 10% lice ointment or 2% aminomercuric oxide ointment to kill insects and relieve itching until you are cured.

prevention

The principle of prevention is: treatment and prevention are carried out simultaneously, and personal prevention and control are carried out simultaneously.

1. We should vigorously publicize the hazards of pinworm disease, the ways of infection, the significance of prevention and treatment, etc.

2. Make parents, teachers and childcare workers fully aware of the issue and educate children to develop good hygiene habits, such as washing hands before meals, cutting nails frequently, and not sucking fingers. Change and wash underwear and bedding frequently. Children's beds should be carefully separated and there should be a certain distance between them.

3. Disinfect clothes, toys, and tableware regularly. The insect eggs can be killed by treating them with 0.5% sulfamate solution for 5 minutes or 0.05% iodine solution for 1 hour. This low concentration of iodine is non-irritating to human skin and is an effective and simple disinfectant.

4. Prevention of pinworm disease emphasizes the use of comprehensive prevention and control measures, which can effectively prevent reinfection and achieve the goal of eliminating pinworm disease.
