What's wrong with bulging eyeballs

Bulging eyeballs are also called exophthalmos, which means that the eyeballs move forward a little from their normal position and bulge outward, which is an abnormal condition. Under normal circumstances, the eyeball is located at the top of the cornea in the eye socket and does not exceed the upper and lower edges of the eye socket. If the difference in the outward protrusion of the patient's eyes does not exceed 2mm, it is likely that the eyeball is pathologically protruding.

Intraorbital tumors:

It is one of the common causes of exophthalmos. Most of them are benign, with hemangioma being the most common, and the onset is slow. The main manifestations are unilateral exophthalmos, normal or decreased vision, and unobstructed eye movement. Common manifestations include hemangioma, meningioma, lacrimal gland tumor, neurotheca tumor, etc.

Inflammatory exophthalmos:

It is mostly caused by local or adjacent tissue and systemic inflammation, such as eye fasciitis, orbital cellulitis, cavernous sinus thrombosis, panophthalmitis, etc. In addition to exophthalmos, there are also inflammatory symptoms such as local redness, swelling, heat and pain.

Vascular proptosis:

It is common in varicose veins of the cavernous sinus of the internal carotid artery and orbital veins. The former is more common after trauma, also known as pulsating exophthalmos; the latter can be congenital or acquired, also known as intermittent exophthalmos.

Other causes of orbital bone deformity include:

The volume of the eye socket becomes smaller and the eyeball becomes protruding.

Traumatic exophthalmos:

It is caused by local trauma to the eyes and orbits, resulting in orbital hemorrhage, tissue edema and emphysema.

Foods that are good for your eyes

chrysanthemum:

Chrysanthemum tastes sweet and bitter, and is slightly cold in nature. It has the effects of dispersing wind and heat, clearing the liver and improving eyesight, and detoxifying and reducing inflammation. It has certain therapeutic effects on dry mouth, excessive fire, and dry eyes. It can relieve the symptoms of eye fatigue and restore vision. Office workers who often work overtime and stay up late can drink more. Chrysanthemum can also prevent radiation. If you often face computers or mobile phones for too long, you can drink more chrysanthemum tea, which can help resist the radiation from the computer. However, chrysanthemum is cold in nature, so it is not recommended to drink it alone. It is recommended to combine it with wolfberry, mulberry leaves, etc. to make chrysanthemum and wolfberry tea. Drinking it as tea for a long time can effectively relieve eye discomfort.

1. Wolfberry

Wolfberry is mild in nature and sweet in taste. It has the functions of nourishing the kidney and liver, improving eyesight, strengthening muscles and bones, relieving low back pain, and prolonging life if taken for a long time. It is most suitable for middle-aged and elderly people with kidney deficiency, and can be drunk as tea for a long time. As recorded in "Bencao Tongxuan", "Goji berries can nourish the kidney and improve the essence. Excessive water will strengthen the bones, and it can cure thirst, blurred vision, back pain and knee pain." However, the market for goji berries is flooded with counterfeit products and the market is rather chaotic. It is recommended to choose brands such as Chen Zhiqian Goji berries. Wolfberry contains rich carotene, multiple vitamins, and essential nutrients for healthy eyes such as calcium and iron, so it has the power to improve eyesight and is commonly known as "bright eyes".

Mulberry leaves:

Mulberry leaves have health-promoting effects such as dispersing wind-heat, clearing the lungs and moistening dryness, clearing the liver and improving eyesight. Modern medical research shows that mulberry leaves contain a variety of amino acids and various vitamins. Mulberry leaves are best picked after the first frost in autumn, that is, autumn mulberry leaves. At this time, the mulberry leaves contain the most effective ingredients such as rutin and chlorogenic acid, and have the best medicinal effect. Mulberry leaves have the effects of lowering blood lipids, cholesterol, anti-thrombosis and anti-atherosclerosis, anti-aging and anti-fatigue. Mulberry leaves also have good skin beauty effects, especially for acne and brown spots on the face.

Commonly known as mulberry fruit. It has the effects of nourishing the liver, benefiting the kidneys and nourishing yin. For example, it is said in "Southern Yunnan Materia Medica": "Mulberries benefit the kidneys and consolidate the essence. Long-term consumption can make the hair black and the eyes bright." Wang Mengying of the Qing Dynasty also said: "Mulberries nourish the liver and kidneys, replenish the blood, and strengthen walking." Therefore, it is most suitable for people with kidney deficiency, especially those with insufficient kidney yin. Mulberries are known as the "holy fruit among the people" and are rich in active proteins, vitamins, amino acids, carotene, minerals and other ingredients.
