How to deal with turbid well water

How to deal with turbid well water

In ancient times, people did not have the current tap water supply, and basically every household had a well. There is a difference between well water and today's tap water. Tap water must be boiled before drinking, while ancient well water can be drunk directly. The well water in ancient times was not seriously polluted, and it could purify polluted water itself. What should you do if the well water becomes turbid?

Turbid well water is mostly caused by the rapid infiltration of turbid water, and also by the alternation of cold and hot currents in the water at the turn of spring and summer. There is a large amount of water in the well and there is no easy way to deal with it; it should generally be clearer in the morning. If you want to drink it, it is best to draw water in the early morning. In addition, sedimentation treatment can be carried out in water storage containers at home: Add half a spoonful of powdered alum to the water tank, then stir it and leave it for a while. The alum molecules will coagulate into turbidity and settle to the bottom of the tank. After that, you can use it to scoop water easily. Remember to brush the water tank frequently.

Treatment

1. Well water is generally hard water, containing relatively high levels of calcium and magnesium. As the temperature rises, the solubility of calcium and magnesium in the water will decrease, causing precipitation.

2. Well water contains microorganisms. Bacteria, boiling kills the microorganisms.

3. The pumped water can first be coagulated and precipitated with polyaluminium chloride, or purified through a membrane and then sterilized with bleach or lime, or it can also be treated with ion exchange.

How to purify ?

Depending on the well water conditions in different places, for example, the groundwater in the Loess Plateau generally contains too high fluoride, the groundwater in the karst landform generally contains too high calcium (commonly known as saltpeter), and some groundwater contains too high iron and manganese. The conditions in different places vary greatly, and the treatment methods for well water purification are also very different. In short, the treatment must be targeted. Water quality tests should be carried out in advance, and then targeted purification treatment should be carried out based on the test results. Currently, these treatment methods are relatively mature. In addition to removing excessive minerals in the water as mentioned above, the well water is usually required to be deturbid and purified. A household water purifier is a good choice. It uses physical filtration. Sand cylinder filtration can be used for primary filtration, PP cotton core and ceramic core filtration can be used for intermediate filtration, and hollow ultrafiltration filtration can be used for deeper filtration. The accuracy can reach 0.01UM, and bacteria and viruses can be filtered out.
