There is a sense of anal pressure when sitting

In the anorectal department of the hospital, sometimes we see some patients complaining to the doctor that they have a feeling of falling in their anus, and when sitting, there is a feeling of upward push in the anus. They also always feel the urge to defecate and have many bowel movements every day. The patients are very worried and afraid that they will have diseases such as colon cancer. The phenomenon of feeling pressure on the anus when sitting may be caused by hemorrhoids or chronic enteritis, and the possibility of rectal prolapse, polyps, etc. cannot be ruled out.

1. Why does sitting cause anal oppression?

1. A feeling of anal prolapse may be caused by inflammation or hemorrhoids. You can take a sitz bath with 1:5000 potassium permanganate hot water and take oral anti-inflammatory drugs for observation. It is recommended to take a rest during treatment, avoid catching cold, maintain good local hygiene, clean on time, and go to the hospital for a rectal digital examination to determine the cause of the disease. Do not eat spicy food, and avoid smoking and drinking.

2. If constipation and diarrhea caused by chronic enteritis lead to a feeling of falling in the anus and incomplete defecation, consider the possibility of anal sinusitis, rectal prolapse, polyps, etc. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a colonoscopy and receive symptomatic treatment after the diagnosis is confirmed. Usually, you should keep your bowel movements smooth, eat more fiber-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, etc., drink plenty of water, do proper exercise, and get enough rest.

2. What to do if you have hemorrhoids

1. After each bowel movement, clean the anal area thoroughly. Wet unscented toilet paper and wipe gently to avoid further irritating the skin. If you have sensitive skin, you can use baby wipes.

2. Take a warm bath. Fill the bathtub with warm water until the water level reaches 10 cm. Slowly sit in the bathtub, bend your knees, relax your body, and soak for 15 minutes. This position allows the anal area to be immersed in warm water as much as possible, helping to relieve pain and soothe skin irritation. Add a little Epsom salt and stir well until dissolved. Epsom salts can shrink and/or soothe hemorrhoids.

3. Apply warm, wet tea bag. Sitting on the toilet and applying a tea bag can provide some relief to hemorrhoids. The warm tea bags have a soothing effect, and the tea contains tannins, which are natural astringents that help reduce swelling and relieve pain.

3. Dietary precautions for patients with hemorrhoids

1. There must be an adequate amount of fiber in the diet. You should eat a certain amount of vegetables and fruits every day, eat an apple on an empty stomach in the morning and evening, or eat 1-3 bananas before each meal.

2. The staple food should not be too refined, and some coarse grains should be eaten appropriately.

3. Drink a glass of light salt water or honey water on an empty stomach in the morning, and massage your abdomen or turn your waist to allow the water to vibrate in the stomach and intestines to enhance the laxative effect.

4. Precautions for daily life in case of hemorrhoids

1. Do not squat on the toilet for too long: The time spent sitting on the toilet should not exceed 5 minutes each time. Especially do not read a book while sitting on the toilet, as this is an extremely unhygienic habit.

2. Do not lift heavy objects: Lifting heavy objects or doing strenuous exercises is like exerting excessive force during a bowel movement. If you are prone to hemorrhoids, you should avoid excessive force.

3. Do not scratch the affected area: The affected area of hemorrhoids may be itchy, but do not use scratching to relieve the discomfort, as this will damage the fragile venous walls of the rectum and make the situation worse.
