1. What is rabies?

Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by the rabies virus, also known as hydrophobia, mad dog disease, etc. Rabies virus is mainly transmitted between animals. 4. How to treat wounds correctly?

After being bitten by a mad animal, whether it is a severe bite or a minor injury, the wound should be washed immediately (within 3 hours after the injury) with soapy water and clean water. It is best to use 20% soapy water. For large and deep wounds, rinse thoroughly with 0.2% chlorhexidine or 0.1% mercuric chloride after debridement (be sure to change the cotton swab). Early local treatment after a bite plays an important role. The earlier the local treatment, the better. Even if it is delayed for 1 to 2 days, or even 3 to 4 days, local treatment should not be ignored. At this time, if the wound has scabbed, the scab should be removed and then washed repeatedly with soapy water until there is a little bleeding. Then rinse with clean water and apply 2% or 3% iodine.
