A survey of Chinese people showed that the average blood pressure, blood sugar and triglyceride levels of Chinese people with BMI greater than 22.6 are higher than those of people with BMI less than 22.6, while the level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, which is beneficial to the human body, is lower. Therefore, experts believe that the upper limit of the normal body mass index for Chinese people should not be greater than 22.6 and should be lower than 24.9 in Europe and the United States and 22.9 in Asia.

Some experts suggest that the optimal body mass index for Chinese people should be 20-22. A BMI greater than 22.6 is overweight, and a BMI greater than 30 is obese.

A high proportion of abdominal obesity is a characteristic and potential danger of obesity in Chinese people. The proportion of Chinese people with a body mass index exceeding 25 is significantly lower than that of Europeans and Americans, but the proportion of abdominal obesity is higher than that of Europeans and Americans. The study found that for people with normal or not very high body mass index, if the waist circumference is greater than 101 cm for men and greater than 89 cm for women, or the waist/hip ratio is greater than 0.9 for men and greater than 0.85 for women, the harm caused by abdominal obesity is as great as that of people with a high body mass index.

The above is a method of calculating the normal weight standard for people. Generally speaking, normal weight has a range. As long as it is within this range, it is considered a normal weight. However, the current dietary conditions are better, so the chance of obesity is higher and there are more people who are overweight, so it is best to pay more attention to your daily diet.
