The right side of my head often hurts

The right side of my head often hurts

Headache is both a symptom and a disease. I believe many people have experienced headaches, either because of a cold or fever, or because of lack of rest, or because of overwork. Headaches can make people upset, not wanting to do anything, and unable to eat or sleep well. Traditional Chinese medicine divides headaches into different locations. For example, forehead pain is Yangming headache, and headache on both sides is Shaoyang headache. So why does the right side of the head often hurt?

1 Why does the right side of my head hurt?

Physical reasons: There may be inflammation or damage inside or outside the skull, or something may have grown inside the brain, pressing on some tissue cells inside the brain, thus causing headache on the right side. Sleep causes headaches. Too little sleep or too much sleep may cause headaches.

Consuming too much MSG and chicken stock. There is a lot of monosodium glutamate in MSG and chicken essence, so consuming too much will cause headaches. Drug abuse, drugs have certain side effects, many drugs have a side effect of headache. Some diseases can cause headaches after they develop, such as frozen shoulder. Even if frozen shoulder is cured, it is easy to relapse. When this disease occurs, you will usually feel a headache.

2. What are the symptoms of headache?

Headaches can be mild or severe, and the duration of pain can be long or short. The pain comes in various forms, with common symptoms being distending pain, dull pain, tearing pain, electric shock-like pain, and needle-like pain. Some are accompanied by a sense of blood vessel pulsation and a feeling of tightness in the head, as well as nausea, vomiting, dizziness and other symptoms. Secondary headaches may also be accompanied by symptoms or signs of other systemic diseases, such as infectious diseases are often accompanied by fever, and vascular diseases are often accompanied by symptoms of neurological deficits such as hemiplegia and aphasia. Headaches cause different harms depending on the severity, and severe cases can cause patients to lose their ability to live and work.

3. Principles of treatment for headache

Headache treatment includes two parts: drug treatment and non-drug physical therapy. The treatment principles include symptomatic treatment and treatment of the primary disease. Acute attacks of primary headaches and secondary headaches whose causes cannot be corrected immediately can be treated with symptomatic treatments such as analgesia to terminate or alleviate headache symptoms. At the same time, appropriate symptomatic treatment can also be given for accompanying symptoms of headaches such as dizziness and vomiting. For secondary headaches with clear causes, the causes should be removed as soon as possible. For example, intracranial infection should be treated with anti-infection, patients with intracranial hypertension should be dehydrated to reduce intracranial pressure, and intracranial tumors require surgical removal.

How to prevent headaches

1. Avoid foods that are bad for you. Pay attention to other foods that can cause headaches, such as hot dogs and some pickled foods. They contain nitric acid, a chemical that can dilate blood vessels and cause severe headaches. In addition, MSG should also be avoided.

2. Say no to chocolate. Chocolate contains tyramine, which is a major suspect in causing headaches. Stone fruits and aged dried fruits also contain tyramine and should be avoided.

3. Smoking is prohibited. Smoking produces carbon monoxide, which has a negative impact on blood flow to the brain. Smoking will also affect the people around you.

4. Drink less alcohol. Drinking once may not be a big deal, but drinking too much is not good. Tyramine is also found in spirits.

5. Savor the ice cream slowly. You may remember guzzling a bottle of Bing Hong Lin and then getting a pounding headache.

6. Develop a sense of humor. If you tend to take things too seriously, you may often have a frown on your face and your mind may be full of worries. It's no wonder that you often suffer from headaches. We should learn to relax ourselves and take things around us lightly.
