Can a blood test detect AIDS?

Routine blood test is the most common physical examination item. It is a routine examination, mainly checking red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin and other items. If you suspect you have AIDS, you cannot detect it through routine blood test. AIDS examination has its own set of methods. The more convenient one now is the AIDS test strip. Its examination method is relatively simple. Let us learn about this aspect.

Can blood tests detect HIV?

A routine blood test is a common physical examination item. It can detect early signs of many systemic diseases by checking the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin and platelets, diagnose anemia, blood system diseases, and reflect the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow. None of these details include screening for HIV antibodies and antigens, so routine blood tests cannot determine whether the body is infected with HIV.

Common tests for HIV include the laboratory enzyme-linked method and chemiluminescence method, as well as the immunochromatographic method, which allows individuals to quickly know the results. Among them, for an individual fast, accurate and painless operation method, you can choose Mano Bio's Aiwei oral testing reagent.

How to use HIV test strips

1. Wash your hands with medical alcohol or household hand sanitizer.

2. Use the provided medical disposable non-toxic blood collection needle to prick your fingertip.

3. Use the provided pipette to draw 2-3 drops of fingertip blood from the place where the finger has just been pierced, and add it to the sample addition hole s of the test paper.

4. If the blood cannot penetrate the test window smoothly, you can add the original diluent (i.e. buffer) we provide to you after adding blood to dilute the blood so that the test can be completed smoothly (no more than two drops).

5. Read the result 15 minutes after adding the sample. One line is negative and two lines are positive. The result after 20 minutes is invalid.

HIV self-test method

1. First of all, you need to see if you have the following high-risk behaviors, such as a complicated sexual life, being a homosexual, taking drugs, or sharing syringes with others, having a history of infection with needles or blood products infected with HIV, or having a mother who is an AIDS patient.

2. For those who engage in high-risk behaviors, if two or more of the following conditions occur, you should be highly alert: recent sudden weight loss of more than 10%, chronic diarrhea or cough for more than one month, continuous or intermittent fever for more than one month, swollen lymph nodes that can be felt all over the body, recurrent herpes zoster or chronic disseminated herpes simplex infection, or Candida infection in the oropharynx.

3. Blood was drawn for routine examination, and different degrees of anemia were found. At the same time, the decrease in white blood cell count indicated viral infection. Urinalysis can reveal protein in the urine.

4. Go to the hospital for HIV-1 antibody testing. If the ELISA test results are positive twice in a row, the WB method should be used for confirmation.

5. If the human immunodeficiency virus can be isolated from the blood, mononuclear cells and cerebrospinal fluid, it can be used to determine whether a person is infected with AIDS.
