HIV infection usually causes low-grade fever, sore throat, diarrhea, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash about half a month after high-risk sexual behavior. Some acute early symptoms may appear within a few weeks (4 to 8 weeks) of infection with the HIV virus, such as swollen lymph nodes, rash, night sweats, headache, cough, etc. Some are similar to the common cold.
