What are the performance of radiofrequency ablation needles?

The electrical frequency of the radiofrequency ablation needle is very high, and it is widely used in daily life. The radiofrequency ablation needle is also very useful in daily life. The radiofrequency ablation needle can treat many diseases, but some people may not know much about the radiofrequency ablation needle. The radiofrequency ablation needle is used in different places and plays different roles. What is the performance of the radiofrequency ablation needle?

What are the performance of radiofrequency ablation needles?

The basic equipment for radiofrequency ablation consists of a radiofrequency generator, a treatment electrode, and a neutral electrode plate, which together with the patient form a closed loop. After the patient is given intravenous general anesthesia, under the guidance of external ultrasound and intraoperative ultrasound, the needle sheath enters the center of the tumor and destroys the tumor. For larger tumors, multiple punctures can be performed to "focus" on different locations inside the tumor to achieve the goal of completely destroying the tumor.

During radiofrequency ablation treatment, radiofrequency electrodes are inserted into tumor tissues through image-guided percutaneous puncture, laparoscopy, or laparotomy. Alternating radiofrequency current is emitted from the uninsulated part of the end of the inserted electrode to the surrounding tissues. As the direction of the current changes, it causes ions in the local tissues to vibrate, and friction between them generates heat (also called resistance heating). The local temperature increases to 90-120°C, and the core temperature can reach around 100°C, causing coagulative necrosis of the tumor tissue, directly killing tumor cells and achieving the treatment goal.

Advantages and risks of radiofrequency ablation for primary liver cancer

(1) Minimally invasive

The wound caused by radiofrequency ablation treatment is only the size of a "pinhole". If the patient recovers well after the operation, the "pinhole" will scar, fall off and disappear. It can be said to be a "minimally invasive or even non-invasive" treatment method. Anesthesia can be used during the treatment and the patient will not experience much pain. Among the patients treated in our hospital, more than 95% of them were able to get out of bed and eat on the day of treatment, and more than 98% of them were discharged from the hospital the day after surgery.

(2) Definite efficacy

For liver cancer with a tumor diameter of less than 3 cm, the one-time complete ablation rate is as high as 97%, and the treatment effect is similar to surgical resection, which can achieve the standard of local cure; for liver cancer with a tumor diameter of 3 to 5 cm, multiple needle combinations, repeated ablations and combined with other local or systemic treatments can also achieve satisfactory ablation effects, and the complete ablation rate can reach more than 90%.

(3) Treatment can be repeated multiple times

Radiofrequency ablation therapy has the characteristics of small trauma, fast recovery and easy control of treatment range. It can treat lesions repeatedly and has certain advantages in treating multiple and recurrent liver cancers. In addition, repeated treatment has shown good safety for patients with a history of chronic hepatitis B and other diseases such as cirrhosis, hypersplenism and portal hypertension who are not suitable for surgery, with no obvious adverse reactions.

(4) Activate the immune system

The thermal effect of radio frequency can stimulate the body's immune system and enhance humoral and cellular immunity. At the same time, some tumor antigens produced by heat shock can act as endogenous tumor vaccines, stimulate the body's specific immunity, inhibit the growth of residual and metastatic tumor tissues, and achieve the purpose of treatment.

(5) More economical treatment

The cost of radiofrequency ablation treatment is much lower than that of traditional surgery. It is a very "economical" treatment method both in terms of money and time.
