Healthy height and weight ratio table

Healthy height and weight ratio table

Nowadays, parents are very worried about whether their children's height and weight have reached the healthy value. If not, they will be very anxious. In fact, the health index is calculated according to the formula. Generally, as long as the difference is not that big, there is no need to be too nervous. As long as you actively adjust their bodies through diet, they can reach the normal standard. If the difference is too big, you need to go for a check-up.

WHO calculation method

Male: (height cm-80) × 70﹪ = standard weight Female: (height cm-70) × 60﹪ = standard weight

Normal weight is within 10% of standard weight

If the standard weight is plus or minus 10%~20%, it is considered overweight or underweight.

A standard weight of plus or minus 20% is considered obese or underweight

Overweight calculation formula

Overweight% = [(actual weight - ideal weight) / (ideal weight)] × 100%

Different age algorithms

Standard weight method

Standard weight (kg) = age x 2 + 8 (7 - 16 years old)

Mild obesity: 20% - 30% above standard weight

Moderate obesity: 30% - 50% above standard weight

Severe obesity: more than 50% above standard weight

BMI method

Body mass index BMI = weight (kg) / height (m) squared, i.e. kg/m2

Age BMI value

Normal age Overweight Mildly obese Moderately obese Severely obese

Under 6 years old 15-18 18-

6- 11 years old 16-19 19-21 21-23 23-27 27

The BMI index (body mass index, also known as weight, in English, Body Mass Index, abbreviated as BMI) is a number obtained by dividing the weight in kilograms by the square of the height in meters. It is currently a commonly used standard internationally to measure the degree of fatness and health of the human body. Mainly used for statistical purposes, BMI value is a neutral and reliable indicator when we need to compare and analyze the health effects of a person's weight on people of different heights.

For example: a person is 1.75 meters tall and weighs 68 kilograms. His BMI = 68/(1.75^2) = 22.2 (kilograms/meter^2). When the BMI index is 18.5-23.9, it is normal.

BMI is an indicator closely related to the total amount of body fat, which takes into account two factors: weight and height. BMI is simple, practical and can reflect systemic overweight and obesity. It is more accurate in measuring the risks of heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. due to being overweight than simply determining it based on weight.
