How to treat cold rice lumps

How to treat cold rice lumps

Cold rice lumps are a name we call them in daily life, and are called urticaria in medicine. Urticaria is a skin disease usually caused by allergies. If you suffer from urticaria, you should not come into contact with cold water, otherwise your skin will become red, swollen, itchy and other symptoms in a short period of time. The patient will feel very uncomfortable and his skin will feel very uncomfortable. So, how should cold rice lumps be treated?

1. What are cold rice lumps?

It is a different name for urticaria, commonly known as wheal, which is a common allergic skin disease. It can occur suddenly at any age. When the skin is exposed to cold wind, cold water, etc., local itchy edema and wheals will appear within a few minutes, which can last for 30 to 60 minutes and will be relieved after keeping warm.

2. Clinical symptoms

Skin lesions are characterized by pale, normal skin-colored or ruddy wheals, large edematous patches or plaques, often surrounded by a red halo. The shapes and distribution vary. They can exist in a certain part of the body or spread throughout the body, sometimes like a large map. The most diagnostic feature is that the skin lesions appear suddenly and disappear naturally after a few minutes or hours, leaving no trace after disappearance, but they can reappear. Some people describe it as coming quickly and going without a trace. Another symptom of urticaria is unbearable itching. Sometimes, in addition to skin manifestations, other tissues may be affected. Involvement of the respiratory mucosa can cause smooth muscle spasm, resulting in shortness of breath, palpitations, and in severe cases, difficulty breathing. Involvement of the intestinal mucosa can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

3. What to do if you have urticaria

1. Cleaning

Pay attention to skin hygiene, take a bath regularly, the water temperature should not be too high, and use less or no irritating cosmetics. Don’t dry your bedding too often, and don’t expose it to the sun with plush items, as plush items can easily cause bacterial infection and worsen the condition.

2. Don’t scratch

Do not scratch when it itches to prevent skin bleeding and secondary skin infection. If you really can't stand it, just wave your limbs to divert your attention from the itchiness. If you feel itchy in the middle of the night, it may be that the quilt is too thick. Being too hot can also easily induce itching. You should cover yourself with a thinner cover or expose the itchy area outside the quilt. The same applies to daily clothing. Urticaria patients should not wear too warm clothes.

3. Pay attention to your diet

Some urticaria is caused by diet, especially in infants and young children, who may develop this disease due to allergies to certain foods. Then you shouldn't eat this kind of food. As for adults, they should pay attention to a balanced and light diet and avoid excessive fried, greasy food and hair-raising foods.

4. Identify allergens

Many cases of urticaria are caused by skin allergies. In order to completely eradicate it, the allergens should be found as soon as possible. There are many allergens, such as food, environment, temperature, etc. Of course, there are also emotional reasons. I once saw an expectant mother who suffered from urticaria because of disputes between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and too much worry.
