Argon-helium cryotherapy

Argon-helium cryotherapy

Nowadays, many people suffer from tumors. Tumor is a relatively serious disease and can be divided into early and late stages. Early-stage tumors can be treated with common methods such as medication and surgery. However, if the tumor is more serious, the general treatment methods are not very effective. At this time, argon-helium knife cryotherapy is needed. So, what exactly is cryotherapy?

1. What is Argon-Helium Cryoablation?

Argon-helium cryoablation technology, referred to as argon-helium knife, is an advanced medical technology for minimally invasive ultra-low temperature cryoablation of tumors. The argon-helium knife is the crystallization of the application of aerospace guidance technology, that is, the cold isolation technology of argon gas, to the medical field. It was approved by the US FDA and certified by IEC and EMC in 1998. Since Professor Xu Kecheng (President of the International Society of Cryosurgery) introduced the argon-helium knife in 1999, more than 20,000 cancer patients have received argon-helium cryoablation treatment. Since the introduction of the argon-helium knife, more than 10,000 cases have been treated.

2. Indications for Argon-Helium Knife

1. Argon-helium ultracold knife is suitable for the treatment of solid tumors in early, middle and late stages, especially for those patients in the middle and late stages who cannot be surgically removed, or those who are unwilling to undergo surgery due to various reasons such as old age and physical weakness; or those who are unwilling to bear the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy or those who have poor treatment effects such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and interventional treatment; in order to better use this technology to relieve patients' pain and improve the comprehensive treatment effect.

2. This technology is suitable for the treatment of lung cancer, benign lung tumors, liver cancer, hepatic hemangioma, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, breast hyperplasia, brain tumor, spinal meningioma, prostate cancer, prostatic hyperplasia, kidney cancer, adrenal tumors, perineum tumors, uterine cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, penile cancer, skin cancer, melanoma, hemangioma, osteosarcoma, tonsil cancer, throat tumors, nasopharyngeal cancer, neurofibroma, liposarcoma, oral cancer, tongue cancer, maxillofacial tumors, neck tumors, etc.

3. Advantages and disadvantages of argon-helium knife

Argon-helium knife surgery is a minimally invasive treatment with little bleeding. A 5 cm lesion generally requires freezing of 7 cm in diameter, which can basically achieve the effect of surgical resection. However, for larger and irregular lesions, the "cold cutting" effect is not as thorough as surgery. Therefore, surgery should be performed if it is possible. If the conditions for surgical resection are not met, the argon-helium knife has its unique advantages. It has a definite therapeutic effect and all tumors will die wherever it is frozen. It is a physical therapy and has no side effects. Another thing is that the treatment period is short. Generally, one treatment is enough and the patient can be discharged from the hospital after 2-3 days of observation, so non-therapeutic expenses are low.

Today, this technology has been promoted and used in 50 hospitals. Since this technology only freezes and heats the tip of the knife to treat tumors, it causes less damage to the patient, less bleeding, fewer complications, and faster recovery. It can be treated repeatedly or combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery.
