Now there is a new variety of orange called red orange, and it looks like there is blood in the flesh. So, can oranges with blood in them be eaten?

Blood orange is a variety of orange, commonly known as red orange. It has deep blood-red flesh and juice and is smaller than an ordinary orange; the skin usually has small pits, but can also be smooth. Blood oranges first appeared in Europe in 1850. Fresh blood oranges are red or orange with bright red stripes, and are sweet and juicy with a fragrant aroma. Several varieties are slightly oval in shape. Most blood oranges are seedless and are mainly grown in Spain, Italy and North America. Blood oranges are mainly grown in Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Ganzhou and Fuzhou in Jiangxi Province in China. Blood orange can also improve skin tone and promote cell regeneration.

Blood orange is an excellent variety of orange and there are many varieties. Generally, the fruit is medium-sized and spherical, with a single fruit weight of about 100-120 grams. The peel is orange-red or purple-red, the fruit has a beautiful appearance, the flesh is filamentous or blocky blood-red, the texture is crisp and tender, with moderate sourness and sweetness, strong taste with rose fragrance, rich juice, about 8 seeds, 13.4% soluble solids, and high quality. It is rich in calcium and vitamins, and has the effects of quenching thirst, stimulating appetite, aiding digestion, relieving sore throat, and sobering up.

Navel Blood Orange, a variety of navel orange, originated from a bud mutation of DobleFina. The tree is smaller and weaker. Young trees come into production early and have good productivity. The fruit is medium to large in shape, round to oval, often with a closed navel, smooth, medium-thick skin, and the style is often persistent. The peel with light blood threads is not as tough as that of Bifena or Sanguinarao Blood Oranges. It is wrapped with moderate tightness and is easy to peel. The color of the bloodshot depends on climatic conditions. Generally, the blood streaks are shallow and few, and in cold conditions, there may not even be any traces of blood. The flavor is less sour and sweeter (compared to Double Fina), but lacks the inherent aroma of blood orange. The fruit has good tree retention characteristics, but the processing performance is not very good.
