The efficacy and function of camphor oil

In nature, many trees also have magical effects and functions. Camphorwood oil is a volatile oil refined by evaporating from camphor trees. It has a good therapeutic effect on some diseases such as rheumatism and toothache. In addition to the medicinal value of camphor oil, camphor oil is also added to many items we use in our daily lives. For example, shampoo, perfume, etc.

Camphorwood oil effects and functions:

Camphorwood oil is a volatile oil artificially evaporated from the roots of camphor trees and has medicinal properties.

Main Ingredients

The main components of evaporated oil are d-camphor, cineole, safrole, and also contain campherenol, campherenone, d-pinene, camphene, phlandrene, α-limonene, cadinene, borneol, etc.

Medicinal value

It can eliminate rheumatism, dredge meridians, relieve pain and help digestion. It is used for rheumatic pain, cold pain in the heart and abdomen, abdominal distension caused by cholera, indigestion, and trauma. It can open up the meridians; relieve stagnant qi; eliminate filth and dirt; kill insects and relieve itching; reduce swelling and relieve pain. Therefore, natural camphor is a traditional household insecticide and disinfectant in my country, especially in the spring and summer in the south. Because of the humidity and stuffiness, many families buy natural camphor. In rural areas, they even directly use camphor sawdust or small camphor wood blocks to place them in wardrobes, bookcases, dark corners of the room, and under wooden floors to repel insects and kill bacteria. Camphor sawdust or small camphor wood blocks and natural camphor not only have fragrance indoors, but also can protect clothes, quilts, books, furniture, and other daily necessities that are susceptible to damage by fungi and insects. At present, there are manufacturers in Nanjing, Guangdong, Jiangxi and other places on the market who use natural camphor resources, that is, discarded camphor tree roots, branches, leaves and camphor wood chips left over from wood product processing to produce household insect and moth-proofing products.

Evaporation process

Evaporation process: The workers use a machine to cut the roots of the camphor tree into small pieces of wood, and then prepare a large pot, put half a pot of water, and put a wire mesh above the water. Put a quantitative amount of camphor wood chips on the wire mesh, cover it with a wooden barrel that fits the pot just right, make a round opening on the top of the barrel, lead out a bamboo tube, and then connect it to the ground through several bamboo tubes and pass through a cooling pool. The end is the outlet for camphor wood oil. When the bottom of the pot is heated, the camphor oil in the camphor wood chips will evaporate and rise with the water vapor, passing through the bamboo tube at the top of the wooden barrel all the way to the cooling pool. After passing through the cooling pool, the water vapor is cooled and turned into liquid and flows out from the end. The staff can then separate the outflowing water into oil and water to obtain camphor oil.

Main Origin

There are many camphor trees in the Lingnan region of my country, and the main production areas of camphor oil in my country are in the Lingnan area. Many of the shampoos and fragrances we commonly use in our daily lives contain camphor oil.
