Are cherry tomatoes genetically modified fruits?

Are cherry tomatoes genetically modified fruits?

I believe that many people like to eat cherry tomatoes. In addition to their meaty appearance, their nutritional value is also relatively high. Whether cherry tomatoes are genetically modified requires you to use certain methods to identify them. Not all cherry tomatoes are genetically modified foods.

1. Look at the shape. Common tomatoes are oval and round in shape. The appearance alone may not be accurate, but it can still be used as a way for us to identify. Under normal circumstances, oval tomatoes are more likely to be genetically modified tomatoes, but round tomatoes are not necessarily the case. They may be, or may not be.

2. Pinch gently. Generally speaking, when you gently squeeze a tomato with your hand, if it is a genetically modified tomato, it will feel a little hard, if not, it will feel a little soft. This requires a certain feel, and most people may not be able to get it right. But remember, the tomatoes you choose must be ripe.

3. Taste it. People who eat a lot of tomatoes generally have this experience. When we eat ripe tomatoes, unless they are genetically modified tomatoes, they will have a little sour taste to a certain extent. If it is a genetically modified tomato, the sour taste is hard to detect when you eat it, but it has a little sweetness instead.

4. Storage. Based on the conditions under which genetically modified tomatoes appear, they should theoretically be more durable in storage than normal tomatoes. However, in modern life, refrigerators are already very popular, so this point seems not very important.

5. Due to the presence of a large amount of genetically modified foods in our lives, it is impossible to correctly judge whether it is a genetically modified food simply by its shape, taste, storage, etc. Therefore, only specialized inspection agencies and experiments can be determined. So, here I would like to remind everyone that when purchasing, if you are not sure, it is better not to eat it than to buy it. After all, since genetically modified foods are very controversial, it is better to pay more attention to popular science and professional websites in this area.
