Why does chest tightness occur when climbing a mountain

Mountain climbing is a form of exercise that many people like, because it not only exercises the body's muscles and excretes toxins, but also allows people to climb to higher places and see farther, and breathe some fresh air on the top of the mountain, making people feel happy physically and mentally. However, for people with certain medical conditions, they often feel chest tightness when climbing mountains. So what is going on?

1. Causes of chest tightness when climbing mountains

1. Excessive exercise when climbing mountains;

2. The oxygen in the mountains is thin;

3. Not warming up before climbing;

4. The climber is in poor health.

2. Solution

If you feel chest tightness or shortness of breath while climbing, do not force yourself to continue climbing. Instead, you can rest where you are and take 10 to 12 deep breaths until your breathing becomes even, and then move forward slowly.

3. Precautions for mountain climbing

1. Elderly people who are weak or have just recovered from illness, as well as those who suffer from cardiovascular diseases (such as high blood pressure, coronary artery blood supply obstruction and poor compensatory function), dizziness, chest tightness, and palpitations should not participate in mountain climbing activities.

2. Before mountaineering, you need to survey (or inquire) the terrain and topography, understand the structure and height of the mountain, and identify dangerous areas, rocky areas and areas with dense vegetation.

3. If the mountain is mixed with sand, gravel, pumice, and wild vines such as shrubs, do not grab the loose grass roots or branches when climbing. If you accidentally fall while climbing, you should lie down facing the grass slope to protect yourself.

4. If you feel short of breath during climbing, do not force yourself to continue climbing. You can rest where you are and take 10 to 12 deep breaths until your breathing becomes even, and then move forward slowly.

5. Shoes should fit your feet (rubber shoes and hiking shoes are preferred), high heels are not allowed, and clothes should be loose (sportswear and casual clothes are preferred);

6. Bring some water or drinks with you in case there is no water on the mountain;

7. It is best not to go hiking when the weather is bad to avoid danger;

8. Don’t run down the mountain to avoid getting in trouble;

9. When climbing a mountain, lean forward, but keep your waist and back straight to avoid hunching or bending over.
