How to treat severe second-degree meniscus injury

How to treat severe second-degree meniscus injury

Nowadays, many people like to go to the gym to do fitness activities during their rest time, or do some exercise in their spare time in life. Sometimes such exercise may cause some unexpected injuries to the body if you are not careful. Among them, meniscus injury is a common sports injury. According to the different circumstances of the loss, it is divided into different degrees of injury. Now let’s talk about how to treat severe second-degree meniscus injury.

1. The mental attitude must be correct.

Don't be anxious or impatient. You should know that it is normal for the recovery period to be uncertain (reason: the blood supply and nutrition of meniscus tissue are different from other tissues).

2. Lie down more often and do rest and therapy.

If the knee joint is swollen due to a first-degree injury, some Chinese medicine can be used for external application to regulate the condition (it has the effects of reducing swelling, relaxing muscles and activating blood circulation, relieving pain, dispersing blood stasis, and dispelling wind and cold). Generally, 1 to 2 courses of treatment are required.

3. Never engage in strenuous exercise

Especially weight-bearing squatting exercises, this type of exercise will aggravate the damage to the meniscus. If a first-degree injury worsens to second or third degree, it will be difficult to treat conservatively. Even with surgery, the recovery time will be longer. If the patient is an athlete, it will directly affect their performance.

4. Second degree meniscus injury

If it is a 2nd or 3rd degree injury, the doctor will recommend you to undergo reconstructive surgery, but the sequelae and risks of the surgery also exist. This requires your own discretion. The degree of meniscus injury is the level of injury. Generally speaking, for young people, grade 1 injury can be treated conservatively and does not require surgery.

Note:

If the meniscus is really damaged, it should be treated as soon as possible, whether conservatively, surgically, or using the latest stem cell technology for repair. You should pay attention to the health of your knee joint. Since the joint where the meniscus is located has less blood supply and lacks nutrients, the possibility of self-healing is very small.
