There is blood in the mouth when I wake up in the morning

The oral cavity is the cavity inside the mouth, which is covered by the upper and lower lips and contains the tongue, teeth, salivary glands and other organs. The mouth is also one of the channels people use to exchange gases and nutrients, and can also be used for breathing when necessary. The oral cavity is a very important part of the human body. When some abnormal symptoms appear in the oral cavity, it should attract our attention. So what does it mean if there is blood in the mouth in the morning?

It may be that your gums are bleeding. Don't brush your teeth too hard and change to a toothbrush with soft bristles. Fresh blood in the mouth comes from: gums, throat, nasal cavity and other parts; bleeding from the lungs, esophagus and stomach can basically be ruled out; you can see an ENT doctor to check the nose, throat, gums, etc., and also have a blood test: clotting time, platelet count, etc., to see if there is any coagulation dysfunction.

Vitamin C deficiency can cause this bleeding. If no problem is found, oral vitamin C and rutin tablets are recommended. But it is still related to getting angry, because getting angry will cause the gums to swell, making it easy to bleed when brushing your teeth. Of course, it is also possible to have pharyngitis: the throat is inflamed and swollen, and blood seeps from the capillaries.

You can also self-diagnose: If you wake up every morning with blood and saliva in your mouth, it may be:

1. Inflammation and swelling of the throat, blood oozing from capillaries;

2. Inflammation of the trachea and blood oozing from the capillaries;

3. Precursor of tracheal dilatation, bleeding from ruptured capillaries;

4. Bleeding from the lungs.

Suggestions: 1. Observe yourself for a few days. If the symptoms no longer occur, it is just an isolated occurrence and you don’t need to worry about it. 2. If other symptoms appear, such as fever, cough, etc., you must go to the hospital for a check-up to ensure peace of mind.

If a person over 40 years old wakes up every morning with blood and saliva in his mouth, that is, blood in his sputum, he should be alert to the occurrence of lung cancer. Coughing with blood in sputum or coughing up a lot of blood, if the blood is bright red, it is often seen in tuberculosis, bronchiectasis and lung cancer; if the blood is rusty, the sputum is viscous and there is a small amount of purulent secretion, it is common in pneumonia and diplococcal pneumonia; if the blood is orange-red and the sputum is thick, it is often considered to be paragonimiasis.

If the cough is more obvious in the morning, it is mostly caused by chronic inflammation of the upper respiratory tract or a smoking addiction; if the cough mainly occurs at night, it is often caused by heart failure. When cough is accompanied by shortness of breath, it may be bronchial asthma and left heart failure; cough accompanied by hoarseness may be caused by vocal cord inflammation or mediastinal tumor, etc. You should go to the hospital in time for an X-ray chest examination and sputum exfoliative cytology examination. These two methods are simple, economical, less painful, and have a higher positive rate.
