Acupuncture and electroacupuncture combined therapy for paraplegics with bone cancer

If the bone tumor occurs in the thoracic spine and other parts of the body, as the tumor develops, the patient is likely to suffer from paraplegia due to limited movement. However, the tumor may not develop as fast as imagined. The threat of the tumor to the body is far less than the inconvenience caused by paraplegia to the patient. 1. Acupuncture points

Main acupoints: divided into 2 groups. 1. Baihui, front top, Jiaji (from the 2nd vertebra of the injured spine to the 5th sacral vertebra, 2 inches away), Huantiao, Shenshu, Chengfu, Yinmen, Chengshan, Kunlun; 2. Baihui, front top, Jian, Quchi, Waiguan, Hegu, Dachangshu, Yanglingquan, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, Taichong, Bafeng.

Combined acupoints: For urinary incontinence, add Guanyuan, Qihai and Baliao; for fecal incontinence, add Tianshu and Zhigou.

2. Preparation method:

Electroacupuncture is mainly used. A group of main acupoints are selected each time. Acupoints are added according to the symptoms. Continuous waves are applied to the acupoints on the head, limbs, and back at a frequency of 60 to 80 times per minute. The amount of stimulation is based on the tolerable level. The needles are retained for 30 minutes.

Moxibustion: When electroacupuncture is applied to the abdomen, Guanyuan and Qihai points are selected; when electroacupuncture is applied to the back, Shenshu and Dachangshu points are selected. When electroacupuncture is applied, use a moxibustion box to apply moxibustion for 30 minutes until the local area becomes red.

Acupoint injection: 3-4 points on the waist and lower limbs each time, alternately used. The drugs are vitamin B1, B12 and nitrate of scutellariae, 0.5 ml per point. The above methods are once a day, 10 times as a course of treatment, and the interval between courses is 2-3 days.
