You can still correct your teeth at the age of 23

You can still correct your teeth at the age of 23

In fact, in principle, there is no age limit for orthodontic treatment. You can have it done at any age. However, the effect will be better if you do it as early as possible. So even if you are 23 years old, you can have it done. This will make your teeth look more beautiful, make chewing easier, and avoid dental diseases.

4. Take photos: The doctor will take photos of your teeth from various angles during correction for backup and future comparison. (The only embarrassing thing is that there is a nurse who will stretch your mouth open, exposing such ugly teeth without reservation, and ask you to smile happily in front of everyone. But after you get the braces back from the doctor, there will be a world of difference, and your self-confidence should soar)

5. Tooth extraction: According to the plan made by the doctor, teeth are extracted in batches. Generally, people need to have about 4 teeth extracted. Some special cases, such as those with many wisdom teeth or those with too dense teeth, may need to have about 8 teeth extracted. (Some people do not need to have their teeth extracted and only need to have their teeth ground.) If there are cavities or something like that, they will be filled first, and if there is tartar, the teeth will be cleaned first. (The purpose of tooth extraction is to make room for those teeth that are crooked due to crowding. As for the gaps caused by tooth extraction, they will be closed in time. This is up to the doctor. So don’t blindly ask the doctor whether to fill the gaps with dentures. If you want dentures, wouldn’t it be faster to just go for porcelain instead of suffering this?)

6. Tooth separation: Some tooth separation is performed at the same time as tooth extraction, while others are performed after tooth extraction. A tooth separation ring is placed between the upper and lower molars, and it usually takes about a week. The purpose is to create a little space between the teeth so that the steel ring that fixes the braces can be inserted when wearing braces. Generally speaking, teeth separation will feel a bit sore and weak, and it will be a bit painful when the upper and lower teeth touch each other!

7. Put on braces: You can usually put on braces directly after the teeth are separated. (The mouth will rub a little when you first get the braces on. You may feel a little sore in the first week, but it will get better later. If you have oral ulcers, you can spray Guilin Watermelon Frost before going to bed at night to supplement vitamin B, zinc, etc. The places where the mouth rubs can be sticked with chewing gum. It is generally not recommended to chew gum when wearing braces because they are afraid of stickiness, so you have to figure out the solution yourself, haha!

8. Follow-up visit: Generally, the follow-up visit is once a month. The doctor will discuss the specific time with you. (Generally, the follow-up visit will give you more force to move your teeth faster. So in the first week of the follow-up visit, you may feel a little sore, but it will be fine later.)

9. Rubber band: Generally speaking, the alignment of teeth will vary depending on the speed of tooth movement and the doctor's skills. Generally, some changes can be seen in about a month, and they will be basically aligned in about six months. After the teeth are aligned, the gaps between them and the gaps where the teeth were extracted need the help of rubber bands. The rubber band should be taken off when eating. It is said that the effect of rubber bands is very magical.

10. Adjust the shape and finalize the modeling: When closing the gaps between teeth, the center line is also adjusted. When the gaps between teeth are closed, the center line is basically symmetrical. When the center line is symmetrical, the face is symmetrical, and it will look good when you smile! (Some people may have asymmetrical tooth loss, so the center line will not be completely straight, but as long as it is not very crooked, it will not affect the appearance.) But don’t rush to take off the braces at this time, the teeth need to be shaped for a while!

11. Remove braces: To make it more perfect, you can have your teeth cleaned or whitened. Make yourself more confident and energetic.

12. Retainer: Don’t think that everything is done once you take off your braces. For us adults who are having our teeth fixed, we must pay more attention to maintaining the shape. Therefore, it is necessary to wear a retainer. Generally speaking, retainers are worn 24 hours a day for the first six months, and then only at night. (You can take it off when eating, but make sure to keep it clean) Don’t let all the suffering you have endured go to waste. If you don't insist on wearing a retainer, it will rebound, so remember to stick to the retainer!
