How to floss your teeth

Many people use dental floss to clean their teeth. The benefit of cleaning teeth is that it can prevent teeth from loosening. It can also avoid using a bamboo stick to pick at the teeth, which can cause the gaps between teeth to become larger and may even cause bleeding gums. In addition, dental floss is specially designed and is very safe and hygienic. It can also clean out some food residues in the gums. It is a very convenient and simple method.

Is flossing good for your teeth?

For many people, using dental floss to clean teeth may still be unfamiliar, but in other countries it has been used in life for a long time.

Daily brushing can only clean 70% of the tooth surface at most, and about 30% of the tooth plaque remains unremoved. However, due to reasons such as uneven tooth alignment, it is easy for sanitary blind spots to form between teeth. No matter how carefully you brush your teeth, it may not be completely cleaned, causing oral diseases.

Practice has shown that dental floss can clean the tooth surface and remove impacted food. It can easily reach the narrow gaps between teeth that are difficult to reach with brushing, rinsing and flossing, and effectively remove food debris, plaque and soft deposits between teeth.

Some people worry that flossing in and out of teeth will cause the teeth to loosen, but in fact, the gaps between normal teeth are large enough for very flat dental floss to pass through; in addition, using dental floss can stimulate the gums around the teeth through massage, increase blood circulation in the gums, and thus prevent or reduce oral diseases.

However, improper use of dental floss can easily damage the gums. How should dental floss be used? Take about 20 cm of dental floss and wrap it around one finger of your left and right hand. Pull the floss taut and gently insert it into the space between the teeth until it touches the gums. Use an up and down motion to clean the tooth surfaces at both ends to remove plaque and food particles stuck there. It’s best to stick to flossing after meals and before brushing your teeth.
