What to do if your teeth are particularly sensitive

What to do if your teeth are particularly sensitive

We don't pay much attention to our dental health in life, but when we eat, we feel that our teeth will ache after drinking a sip of hot soup, and we will feel particularly uncomfortable after eating a bite of cold food. This is because our teeth are too sensitive. If your teeth are too sensitive, you will feel uncomfortable eating anything and it is difficult to enjoy the pleasure of food. When teeth are sensitive, it is very important to choose to treat them with appropriate methods.

treat

The fluid dynamics theory is widely accepted as the pathogenesis of dental hypersensitivity. According to this theory, effective treatment of hypersensitivity must be to occlude the dentinal tubules to reduce or prevent fluid flow within the dentin. Due to the spontaneous desensitization process of this disease, it is extremely difficult to evaluate the efficacy of any drug.

Common treatments include:

1. Laser treatment: Using Er:YAG laser with a wavelength of 2940, an energy of 100mJ and a frequency of 10HZ is the safe threshold for treating dentin hypersensitivity. The mechanism of action may be that the thermal effect of the laser acts on the dentinal tubules, which can instantly coagulate and seal the exposed tubules, thereby achieving the purpose of desensitization and healing.

2. Fluoride There are many forms of fluoride that can be used to treat dentin hypersensitivity. Fluoride ions can reduce the diameter of dentinal tubules, thereby reducing hydraulic conduction. In vitro experiments have also shown that acidified sodium fluoride solution or 2% neutral sodium fluoride solution can reduce hydraulic conduction by 24.5% and 17.9% respectively; the hydraulic conduction reduced by sodium fluoride solution iontophoresis can be as high as 33%.

(1) 0.76% sodium monofluorophosphate gel (pH=6) can maintain effective fluoride concentration and is the most effective fluoride currently available.

(2) Repeatedly apply 75% sodium fluoride glycerin to the sensitive area for 1 to 2 minutes. You can also use the tip of orange wood to dip the medicine and rub the affected area for 1 to 2 minutes.

(3) 2% sodium fluoride solution iontophoresis

① Use a direct current electrotherapy device: hold the positive electrode in the patient's hand, moisten the negative electrode with sodium fluoride solution, and touch the allergic area. The current intensity is 0.5~1mA, and the patient should not feel any discomfort. The power-on time is 10 minutes.

② Electrolytic toothbrush to introduce drug ions: Install a dry battery (1.5V) at the end of the toothbrush handle. The handle is the anode (hold the handle by hand) and the brush end is the cathode for the penetration of drugs. Use this toothbrush to brush your teeth 2 to 3 times a day, each time for 3 to 5 minutes. You should pay attention to regularly check whether the current path is normal and whether the battery is running out of power. 3. Strontium chloride is a neutral salt. Highly water soluble and very low toxicity. Put it in toothpaste and use it, which is convenient and safe. 10% strontium chloride toothpaste is widely used abroad and there are also products in China. For local application, use 75% strontium chloride glycerin or 25% strontium chloride solution. Among the various drugs that have been widely studied, strontium has shown strong adsorption to all calcified tissues, including dentin. The effect of strontium on dentin hypersensitivity is believed to be caused by occlusion of open dentinal tubules in the form of calcified strontium apatite.
