What to do if flour has bugs

What to do if flour has bugs

Flour can be used to make many different dishes, so many families buy a lot of flour and keep it at home for later use. However, after opening the flour, you must be careful to store it well, otherwise the flour will easily become damp and infested with insects. When flour is infested with bugs, many people will feel very disgusted and want to throw the flour away directly, but this seems to be a pity. So what should we do if the flour is infested with bugs?

1. Flour grows worms because it is damp

Flour is used in many places in our lives. The most common ones are noodles, pasta, cakes, flatbreads and other foods. Flour cannot be stored for a long time. If it is stored for a long time, it will grow insects due to moisture. People are afraid of insects, let alone whether they can be eaten. Therefore, when buying flour in our lives, try to buy only how much you need, and don't be too convenient and buy a lot at one time. Flour is usually stored in a sealed bag and in the refrigerator so that it will not get damp.

2. You can sift out the bugs and eat them

If you still want to eat flour with bugs in it, you can filter out the bugs and then see if it is edible. If the flour is still white, you can weigh it yourself to see if it is edible. However, this method is not recommended, after all, bugs are unhygienic.

3. Expose the flour with insects in the sun

Sunlight kills bacteria. If you want to eat flour with worms, you can put the flour with worms under the sun. The worms will basically die after exposure to the sun. Then you can filter out the worms. If there are only a few worms, you can do this. If there are too many worms, it is recommended to throw it away.

4. Don’t eat flour that has bugs

Although most elderly people maintain frugal habits and think that it is fine as long as they sift out the bugs, it is best not to eat flour if it has bugs in it. Bugs are unhygienic and they may also poop in the flour. So if you find bugs in the flour, don't be reluctant and throw it away immediately.

In fact, flour has bugs because it has become damp. If you have already found bugs in it, it is best not to eat it. The method of allowing it to be eaten after being exposed to the sun is not often used. It would not be worth it if you get sick or get cancer because you are reluctant to throw away a little flour infested with insects. Therefore, in our daily life, once we find flour with insects, we should throw it away immediately. If it is kept at home for a long time, it will not only attract more insects but may also produce viruses.
