What does kidney disease mean

In daily life, many people are diagnosed with kidney disease, but they are not clear about the meaning and severity of kidney disease. Kidney disease means that the kidneys are dysfunctional or diseased, but there are many types of kidney diseases and the specific type of disease needs to be determined based on the examination results. This article introduces the precursors of kidney disease. People with these symptoms need to pay attention. Let’s take a look.

The kidneys have a strong reserve capacity and can continuously help us excrete water and toxins. At the same time, they can also help us regulate the acid-base balance in the body. If the kidneys are severely damaged, the reserve capacity will decrease, which can easily cause kidney disease. Therefore, when the following early symptoms appear, do not ignore the distress signals they send us.

1. Hypertension: The symptoms of hypertension caused by kidney disease are the same as those of common chronic diseases such as hypertension, including dizziness, headache, palpitations, blurred vision, tinnitus, fatigue, etc. We need to control our blood pressure in time and go to the hospital regularly for urine tests.

However, some people with high blood pressure have been in a state of high blood pressure for a long time and no longer feel any discomfort. They should go to the hospital to check their urine to avoid kidney disease when it is discovered, so as to achieve early detection and early treatment.

2. Edema: When you wake up in the morning, you may find edema on your eyelids or face. It goes down a lot after noon. The edema worsens after doing heavy physical activity and decreases after a short rest. You should pay attention to this situation. In addition, people with allergic diseases such as urticaria and allergic purpura should carefully observe changes in urine.

3. Too much or too little urine: The normal daily urine volume is 1-2 liters, with an average of about 1.5 liters per day. If the urine is pink or light pink, kidney disease may occur; if the urine volume is too much or too little, it may also be a manifestation of kidney disease. Special attention should be paid to frequent urination at night, which is a sign of kidney disease.

4. Fatigue: When the human body’s kidney function is damaged, it cannot help us excrete toxins and water in time, resulting in symptoms such as lack of energy and energy.

5. Poor appetite: Most patients with chronic kidney disease will have digestive tract symptoms, such as loss of appetite, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dry stools and other digestive tract disorders. In severe cases, they may also feel nausea and vomiting.

So how should we protect our kidneys?

1. Pay attention to a light diet. The weather is hot in the summer, and we always like to eat something with strong flavors. Therefore, the daily salt intake will far exceed the normal range. If we consume too much salt for a long time, the kidneys will have to bear more burden. In addition, the sodium component in salt will hinder the excretion of water, which further increases the burden on the kidneys.

2. Drink more water and don’t hold your urine. The latest version of China's Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents recommends that a normal person should drink 7-8 glasses of water per day, or 1500 ml, which can help us excrete urine in time, avoid urine storage in the bladder and kidney infection by bacteria.

3. Have regular physical examinations. Have urine and kidney function tests done every six months.
