How much sleep is normal for a one month old baby?

It is normal for babies who are just about one month old to sleep a lot every day. Parents should not worry if they find that their babies sleep a lot every day. On the contrary, if babies of this age sleep less every day, the harm will be greater. Parents should learn to calculate the baby's sleep time. So how long should a one-month-old baby sleep every day to be normal?

1 month old baby sleep time:

A newborn baby needs about 18 hours of sleep a day on average, and each time the baby sleeps for about 45 minutes. During these 45 minutes, the baby's light sleep and deep sleep during the neonatal period are basically the same. Newborns spend most of their time sleeping, during which they wake up every 2-4 hours to ask for milk. Therefore, caring for a baby during the neonatal period is the most troublesome thing for parents, because the baby's biological clock has not yet been established, and parents have to work very hard to take care of the baby day and night.

Under normal circumstances, babies aged 1-3 months sleep about 16 hours. During the day, the baby's sleep time is about 1-2 hours each time, and he needs to sleep about 4 times during the day; at night, the baby can sleep for 10-11 hours. Of course, babies in the early stages of infancy will still wake up suddenly at night. They may want to be fed, they may need their diapers changed, or they may simply need company.

Babies between 4 and 6 months old should get 14 hours of sleep a day. However, parents should note that the specific sleeping time should be adjusted according to the baby's specific situation, especially do not wake the baby up when the baby is sleeping. Because the baby at this time will gradually develop a normal schedule, and the daytime sleep time will be reduced.

Babies aged 7-12 months may gradually sleep less during the day, and their total sleep time is basically around 14 hours a day, with 1-2 hours each in the morning and afternoon. Babies at this age will basically wake up very early after a night's sleep, and their diapers will need to be changed several times during the night. Parents should also pay attention that if the baby is "playful", they must ensure the child's normal sleep time. If the baby sleeps too little, it may affect the child's healthy development; conversely, it may also delay the baby's motor development.
