Rehabilitation care for patients with advanced brain cancer

When brain cancer enters the late stage, the patient's body and mind are seriously harmed due to the malignant development of the disease and the side effects of treatment. The following aspects should be paid attention to during the nursing process:

Spiritual care

As the disease progresses, patients will experience pain, vomiting, and even paralysis, which will bring great mental pressure to patients, making them emotionally unstable, easily irritable, angry, etc. Therefore, family members should care for, comfort and encourage them so that they can treat the disease correctly, build confidence in resisting the disease, and actively cooperate with rehabilitation treatment.

Physical Exercise

When brain cancer spreads and metastasizes, brain tissue or cranial nerves are stimulated and compressed by the tumor, which can lead to limb movement obstruction in severe cases. Therefore, family members should help patients do limb training, such as doing more upper limb joint activities to increase the sensitivity and coordination of arms and fingers; and improve the function of lower limbs by walking more, but the amount of activity should not be too large.

Life care

As family members, we should provide patients with a quiet and comfortable environment, so that patients can have a regular daily life and a moderate diet. In addition, we should train patients to take care of themselves and enable them to do simple things, such as brushing teeth and washing face, so as to increase their sense of belonging and satisfaction, and also increase their self-confidence.

Diet care

Patients in the late stage usually undergo surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. They may have symptoms of loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. Therefore, they should avoid eating too much meat and fish, and should focus on light and easily digestible food. In addition, they should pay attention to nutritional matching and cooking methods to stimulate the patient's appetite.
