Diagnostic criteria for early colorectal cancer

Diagnostic criteria for early colorectal cancer

In real life, some people may suddenly experience changes in bowel habits, such as an increase in bowel frequency, diarrhea, and constipation. At this time, you need to go to the hospital for a colon cancer check in time, because you may have colon cancer and need to be diagnosed. What are the commonly used methods for colon cancer examination? The following will tell you about the commonly used methods for colon cancer examination.

In general, the commonly used diagnostic criteria for colorectal cancer are:

(1) Rectal examination: Rectal cancer in the lower part of the body is much more common in my country than in other countries, accounting for about 77.5%. Therefore, most rectal cancers can be felt during rectal examination. This is a commonly used method for colorectal cancer examination.

(2) Stool examination: Although the fecal occult blood test is not specific for the diagnosis of this disease, the method is simple and easy to perform. This method of colorectal cancer examination can be used as a screening method or may provide clues for early diagnosis.

(3) Sigmoidoscopy: 77.7% of colorectal cancer occurs in the rectum and sigmoid colon. The commonly used sigmoidoscope tube is 30 cm long. This type of colorectal cancer examination can directly detect tumors in the anal canal, rectum, and below the middle section of the sigmoid colon.

(4) Barium enema X-ray examination: If the lesion is in the upper sigmoid colon or higher, a barium enema X-ray examination is required for colorectal cancer examination. Ordinary barium enema X-ray examination is easy to miss smaller colorectal cancers. It is best to use air-barium double contrast, which can improve the accuracy of diagnosis and show the location and range of the cancer.

The above are the commonly used methods for colorectal cancer examination. I believe everyone should have a certain understanding of this. For more questions about colorectal cancer examination, you can consult our online experts, who will be happy to answer them in detail.
