Skin Self-Examination for Melanoma

Skin Self-Examination for Melanoma

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that originates in the skin's pigment-producing cells (melanocytes). It usually appears in areas exposed to the sun, but nearly half of cases occur in existing moles. Unlike other skin cancers, melanomas tend to metastasize to distant parts of the body, where they continue to grow and destroy tissue. So what are some ways to self-check for melanoma?

1. Is the rash raised? The early symptoms of melanoma are that the rash is not raised at first, but then slightly raised and gradually forms nodules. Or there is erosion, scab, pus, water, especially blood on the surface. This is one of the ways to judge melanoma.

2. The early symptoms of melanoma are unclear borders around the rash, or one side is clear and the other side is blurry, giving people a vague feeling.

3. The rash is asymmetrical. If one side of the rash is relatively stable, the way to judge melanoma is that the other side expands to the periphery and becomes irregular and the epidermis is rough, which is also an early symptom of melanoma.

4. The method of judging melanoma is that the rash pigment deepens or decreases. It can be light brown-dark brown-black, dark red-red-purple red, gray-cyan-cyan-gray-blue, or even the disappearance of pigment, which is the early symptom of melanoma.

5. The rash grows rapidly in a short period of time. It doubles in size within 1 to 2 months. The diameter of the congenital nevus rash is greater than 6 mm. The method of judging melanoma is especially for those occurring on the palms and soles. If the diameter of the nevus exceeds 15 mm, it indicates the possibility of malignancy.

The above is a brief introduction to the symptoms of melanoma, and the content is for reference only. I hope it can bring substantial help to everyone. Here I advise everyone to seek medical attention immediately if they find symptoms of this disease in their lives, so as not to delay effective treatment time.
