What factors are related to bile duct cancer

What are the causative factors of bile duct cancer? Understanding its causes will help everyone develop good living habits in life and avoid the disease to a certain extent. Especially in areas and populations with high incidence of such diseases, more attention should be paid. So, what factors are related to bile duct cancer? Let's take a look.

1. Carcinogens

Radioactive nuclides such as chemicals such as asbestos, nitrosamines, dioxins, polychlorinated, biphenyls, etc., and drugs such as methyldopa, birth control pills, etc., may be the source of bile duct cancer.

2. Clonorchis sinensis

In Southeast Asia, people who eat raw fish infected with liver flukes can suffer from bile duct infection, bile stasis, periductal fibrosis and bile duct hyperplasia, which is one of the factors leading to bile duct cancer.

3. Cystic dilatation of the bile duct

It has been reported that 2.8% to 28% of patients develop cancer. Stone formation in the cyst, bacterial infection, and especially reflux of pancreatic juice due to abnormal development of the confluence are the main causes of cancer.

4. Bile duct stones and bile duct infection

It is generally believed that the long-term mechanical stimulation of the bile duct wall by hepatobiliary stones and the resulting chronic biliary infection and cholestasis lead to chronic proliferative inflammation of the bile duct wall, which in turn causes atypical hyperplasia of the bile duct mucosal epithelium. Pathological observations have found that atypical hyperplasia of the bile duct mucosal epithelium can gradually transform into adenocarcinoma.

5. Primary sclerosing cholangitis

An autoimmune disease. A chronic cholestatic liver disease closely related to inflammatory bowel disease. Characterized by diffuse inflammation, stenosis, and fibrosis of the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts, progressive destruction of the bile ducts, and eventually leading to cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and liver failure.

6. Others

It has been reported that colon and rectal resection, colitis and chronic typhoid fever are all associated with the incidence of bile duct cancer.

The above is a detailed introduction to the causative factors of bile duct cancer. For bile duct cancer, only if we understand the complications well can we better prevent it and ensure the health of the body.
